Review - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I am back with another movie review of a movie currently in theaters.              Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the newest film from Sony Pictures Animation, and is the sequel to the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse .            The movie centers, once again, on Miles Morales, who is having struggles with juggling his life as himself and as Spider-Man. And this movie sees him confronted by a poly dimensional villain calling himself Spot. Spot, evidently, got his powers from the super collider Kingpin and his cohorts were utilizing in Into the Spider-Verse, and it was apparently what brought the radioactive spider that bit Miles to Miles' dimension.            Miles is reunited with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen, and he follows her through the multiverse, where he meets several other heroes all of whom are variants of Spider-Man to a certain capacity. And I'm not exaggerating here, frickin' every Spidey from throughout Marv

Review - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and after years of pestering from friends of mine, I have finally sat down and watched the Sony Animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. So, before I go to see the recently released sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, here are my thoughts on Into the Spider-Verse.         Okay, so this movie focuses on Miles Morales, who gets bitten by a radioactive spider and is given superpowers. Wait a minute, isn't that how Peter Parker got his powers and became Spider-Man? Well, yeah, it is. But, this movie shows us that more than one hero to have the same powers from getting bitten by a radioactive spider. In fact, Miles ends up meeting Peter Parker, whois dealing with several of his enemies like Green Goblin, Prowler, Scorpion, Liv Octavius/Doc Ock, Tombstone, and Kingpin, who are working on an interdimensional super collider in Brooklyn. However after it's affected by Peter, the collider opens portals across the multiverse that bring multi

Review - Ready Player One (2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I am back with another movie review. One of the most celebrated sci-fi novels in recent history is Ernest Cline's novel Ready Player One, which was hailed for its story, references to pop culture, and so much more. So, it's not a surprise that, in 2018, legendary director Steven Spielberg would make a film adaptation of Ready Player One, and it was just as unique as the novel it was based on.            So, the movie and the book share the same basic premise. In the near future, James Halliday of Gregarious Games creates a virtual reality simulation called the OASIS, which becomes the most popular tech innovation ever. After Halliday's passing, he sets it so that, within the OASIS is an Easter Egg, and the one to find it will inherit ownership of Gregarious, Halliday's entire fortune, and total control of the OASIS itself. Now, THAT'S a prize of I ever heard of one.           So, our main protagonist is Wade Watts, who in the wo

Review - Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief (2010) & Sea of Monsters (2013)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and while we're still about a year off from the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I wanted to take a look at the two feature films based on the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan: 2010's The Lightning Thief , directed by Chris Columbus, and 2013's Sea of Monsters, directed by Thor Freudenthal. This trilogy stars Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, and Jake Abel, along with a rotating cast of fantastic supporting players.          So the first movie, The Lightning Thief , opens with a meeting between brothers Zeus and Poseidon, and Zeus accuses his brother's son, Percy Jackson, of stealing the Lightning Bolt, which is Zeus's most powerful relic. Zeus demands that the Bolt be returned before by the Summer Solstice or there will be war amongst the Gods of Olympus. It's here where we meet Percy Jackson, who is a typical teenager suffering from disabilities like ADHD and Dyslexia. He feels most at home

Review - The Flash (2023)

Alrighty guys, Chuck here, and this is my review of the new movie The Flash, the latest film in the DCEU. This film is directed by Andy Muschietti, and stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Ron Livingston, Kiersey Clemons, and Michael Keaton, with appearances by Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, and several more surprise appearances from DC film stars past and present. And don't worry, there will be no spoilers here. Now, I may make a Spoiler Review down the road, but that will probably be around the time the movie is out on Blu-ray.            Okay, so the movie takes its inspiration from the DC Comics storyline "Flashpoint," and it has Barry Allen/The Flash uses his speed tor traverse to the past to make it so his mother is never killed. Unfortunately, he's created an alternate timeline where Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman don't exist, and General Zod is attacking Earth. So, with a younger variant of himself, as well as an alternate

Review - Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (2012) & A Fragmentary Passage (2017)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and we're back talking about Kingdom Hearts once more. Kicking things off with 2012's Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance,  originally published for Nintendo 3DS, but later remade for Playstation 4 as part of the 2012 collection set Kingdom Hearts HD II.8: Final Chapter Prologue.         The game focuses on Sora and Riku, who have been sent off by Master Yen Sid to complete the Mark of Mastery, which is not quite the same Mark of Mastery we saw Terra and Aqua undertake during the events of Birth by Sleep.  In this case, Sora and Riku must unlock seven Sleeping Keyholes from six Sleeping Worlds. The Sleeping Worlds have their own form of monsters running around called the Dream Eaters, of which there are two kinds: Nightmares, which are the main enemies we fight throughout the game, and Spirits, which comprise the player's party throughout the game.          So, as for the Sleeping Worlds themselves, we have Traverse Town featuring characters

Review - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the newest entry in the long-standing  Transformers  film franchise, and serves as a standalone sequel to the franchise's 2018 reboot, Bumblebee.  This movie stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, along with the vocal talents of Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Pete Davidson, Michelle Yeoh, Liza Koshy, and Peter Dinklage, and was directed by Creed II director Steven Caple Jr.          The movie is set in 1994, and introduces us to Noah Ramos, an ex-military Brooklyn native looking to support his mother and younger brother, who is suffering from illness and needs urgent care. We also meet Elena Wallace, another Brooklyn native who interns at a museum on Ellis Island. The two end up caught up in a conflict that involves multiple factions of Transformers all vying for an artifact called the Transwarp Key, which can open doorways through spacetime. The factions include the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime and living on Ear

Review - Inception (2010)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and it's been a bit since Marvel May wrapped up. And today, with about a month and a half until the release of Christopher Nolan's new film Oppenheimer, I'd like to take a look at my favorite Christopher Nolan film outside of the Dark Knight trilogy. And that is the 2010 film Inception, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Elliott Page (credited as Ellen Page), Ken Watanabe, Dileep Rao, Tom Berenger, Cillian Murphy, Lukas Haas, Pete Postlethwaite, and Michael Caine.          So, this movie establishes the concept of shared dreaming, where a dream world is crafted, and a subject is brought into that dream world and fills it with their subconscious. Any sensitive information the subconscious is trying to protect is often targeted by individuals who hire thieves called extractors to get the information through the process of extraction. And dreams within dre
