Review - Kingdom Hearts (2002)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's been a hot minute since I talked about a video game. So, just for fun, I thought I'd take a look at possibly my all-time favorite video game of the PlayStation 2 era: Kingdom Hearts . Created by Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Hearts was a collaboration between Disney and Squaresoft (now known as Square Enix), and it combined the gameplay style and a selection of characters from the popular Final Fantasy franchise with the myriad of worlds and characters from the immense library of Disney. So, how does this mashup of two very polar opposite sources go together? Let's find out as, in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the franchise (dear God, I'm old), we take a look at Kingdom Hearts .             So, the game tells the story of Sora, a teenage boy from the Destiny Islands, who is working with his good friends Riku and Kairi to construct a raft to travel to other worlds. One night, however, tragedy strikes and the Islands begin swar

Review - Ms. Marvel (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I thought I'd give some quick thoughts on the Disney+ original series Ms. Marvel.            Based on the character of the same name, the series stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenage girl who upon trying on a mystical family heirloom, a bangle to be exact, is granted the special ability to project hard light constructs. Now, Kamala must learn about the nature of her abilities, as she comes into conflict with a group known as the Clandestine, who are trying to return to a dimension called Noor , as well as the Department of Damage Control, who are actively working to contain anything involving superhumans. Throughout her journey, Kamala learns that her great-grandmother was once part of the Clandestine but left during the Partition of India in the mid-1940's. Kamala also meets the Red Daggers, a clan dedicated to stopping the Clandestine from achieving their goal, because doing so would mean the end of our world.

Review - Prey (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and this is my quick review of Prey, the newest chapter in the long-running Predator franchise. This movie, currently streaming on Hulu, was directed by 10 Cloverfield Lane director   Dan Trachtenberg and stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, a young Native American woman who discovers the arrival of a member of the Predator species that arrives on Earth in the year 1719. With help from her dog, who is her main companion throughout the movie, Naru must track, outlast, and eventually defeat the deadly hunter from another world. And you guys will have to watch the movie yourselves to find out.           Now, I will agree with what everyone else whose seen this movie has been saying: Amber Midthunder as Naru is easily the best part of the movie. Not only is she the most prominent character of the movie, but she definitively carries every scene that she appears on screen in. I mean, honestly Amber Midthunder is terrific  in this movie. I also like how Dan Trachtenbe

Review - Kick-Ass (2010) & Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I recently rewatched a comic book movie that not only mocks the idea of comic book superheroes, but serves as a deconstruction of the comic book superhero genre itself. That movie is the 2010 superhero comedy Kick-Ass, based on the comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr,   starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mark Strong, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Lyndsey Fonseca, Clark Duke, Sophie Wu, Evan Peters, Omari Hardwick, Garrett M. Brown, Michael Rispoli, and Nicolas Cage, and directed by Matthew Vaughn.             The movie introduces is to Dave Lizewski, who is a pretty ordinary teen from Staten Island, New York, who after being fed up by the injustice all around him, with people getting mugged left and right, and drug trade run amuck by crime boss Frank D'Amico (John Genovese in the comics), decides to mask up and become a crime fighter. While his first attempt lands him in the hospital, resulting in him having metal plates

Review - Bullet Train (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just went to see the new movie Bullet Train, directed by David Leitch and   starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, Zazie Beets, Michael Shannon, Sandra Bullock, Bad Bunny, Andrew Koji, Logan Lerman, with brief appearances by Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds. This movie is based on a Japanese novel titled Maria Beetle, but is titled Bullet Train in English translations.            So, the movie is set in Japan, where various mercenaries and assassins find themselves on the same Japanese bullet train bound from Tokyo to Kyoto. Among them are a smash-and-grab specialist codenamed "Ladybug," who is filling in for another mercenary, Carver, who is sick. Two mercenary brothers named "Tangerine" and "Lemon" are on the train to safely deliver the son of a crime boss named "White Death" back to the young man's father, along with a briefcase with the ransom money. Top 5 Favorite Marvel Movie Villains

Hey guys, Chuck here. And just for fun, I wanted to do a list of my Top 5 Favorite Marvel Movie Villains . I previously did a similar list regarding my favorite Batman villains, now I want to get into it with my favorite villains from Marvel movies, and not exclusively the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, here we go.                  5. Hela from Thor: Ragnarok - portrayed by Cate Blanchett, Hela is the Goddess of Death, and in the movies is Odin's first born child. What I loved about her is that, for a time, she was Odin's right-hand loyal commander, but he would have a change of heart, leading the two to having a falling out that ended with her being banished to another dimension. I like how she is a warrior first, but is bloodthirsty and hungry for war and domination of all the realms that she's literally one of Thor's more dangerous adversaries. I mean, she took out all but one of the Valkyries, for crying out loud. That shows how dangerous she really is.

Review - Joker (2019)

Hey guys, Chuck here. In the wake of a couple of DC movie announcements, one good and one not so good, I decided to take a look at possibly one of the most talked about DC Comics films in recent memory, Joker . Directed by Todd Phillips, who is best known for comedic films like Old School and The Hangover trilogy, Joker is a very dark, very dramatic film done very much in the vein of the early works of Martin Scorsese.             The movie focuses on Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), who is a mentally ill loner living in Gotham City with his mother Penny (Frances Conroy), and working as a party clown. Unfortunately, after getting fired for carrying a gun, Arthur is attacked by some white collar financial guys on a train, and shoots all three of them dead.              We also see Arthur try his hand at being a stand-up comic, but his act bombs hard, and ends up getting mocked by local late-night talk show host Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro). Throughout the movie, Arthur is

Retrospective & Review - Mission: Impossible (1996-2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and welcome to another Retrospective & Review of a popular movie franchise that I am a huge fan of. Last year, we did a Retrospective & Review of the Fast & Furious franchise, and this year I'm doing it with possibly my favorite action spy franchise: Mission: Impossible . This series, based on the television series of the same name by Bruce Geller, kicked off back in 1996 and stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, who is quite honestly my favorite Tom Cruise character of all time. Sorry Top Gun fans, but you guys can keep Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. My guy is Ethan Hunt.                 Okay, so the first Mission: Impossible, directed by Brian De Palma, was released in 1996, and has Ethan working as part of a team led by veteran IMF (Impossible Missions Force) agent Jim Phelps. Unfortunately, during a mission to recover a stolen CIA NOC list, members of the team are all killed, leaving Ethan as the only survivor. Ethan meets with IM
