Review - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I think it's time to wrap up my reviews of the Jurassic Park franchise with the 2018 J.A. Bayona film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom .         Okay, so we open with an extraction team harvesting a bone from the Indominus Rex , inadvertently releasing the Mosasaurus from its enclosure in the process. Obviously, some time has passed since the events of Jurassic World , since what remains of the park has become overgrown with plant life. Three years pass, and we learn that the once dormant volcano on Isla Nublar is now active, and is set to erupt any day now. Claire Dearing, former Park manager of Jurassic World, is now leading an activist group trying to mount a rescue of the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar, as all of them are in grave danger because of the volcano. Unfortunately, based in testimony from Dr. Ian Malcolm suggesting that the United States government let the volcano wipe out the dinosaurs, the U.S. Senate decides just that.            It'

Review - Jurassic World (2015)

Hey guys, Chuck here. It's a new week, which means we're getting even closer to the June release of Jurassic World: Dominion . So, here's my review of the 2015 film Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D'Onofrio, Omar Sy, Jake Johnson, B.D. Wong, Katie McGrath, Judy Greer, Brain Tee, and Irrfan Khan.          So, the movie opens with two dinosaur eggs starting to hatch, but we don't really get an idea of what's inside of them. We then cut to the home of the Mitchells, where brothers Zach and Gray are being taken to the airport by their parents. The brothers then fly to Costa Rica, where they catch a ferry that takes them to Isla Nublar, home of Jurassic World. That's right, John Hammond's vision of a fully functional dinosaur theme park for the public has been realized, and has been in operation for several years. We then meet Claire Dearing, operations man

Review - Jurassic Park III (2001)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, as we continue to get closer to the release of Jurassic World: Dominion , it's time now to discuss easily the worst film of the Jurassic franchise: Jurassic Park III . Released in 2001, this marked the first film of the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Joe Johnston, who at the time was known for directing both Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Jumanji , takes the helm. In addition, the film is also the first not to be based on any of Michael Crichton's novels in the series. So, this is an entirely original story.            The movie opens at Isla Sorna aka Site B, where twelve-year-old Eric Kirby is parasailing with his mother's boyfriend, Ben Hildebrand. Unfortunately, the men on the boat towing Eric and Ben are killed mysteriously in a coastal fog, clearly eaten by an unknown dinosaur. Realizing that the boat is about to crash into some rocks, Ben detaches the parasail from the tow rope, and he and Eric drift towards the

Review - The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we're just over a month out from the release of Jurassic World: Dominion , the sixth chapter of the Jurassic Park  series. And it's been a while since I talked about the original 1993 film Jurassic Park , so let's talk about the film's 1997 sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park .            The movie, which is loosely based on Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park sequel novel The Lost World , starts off with the Bowmans, a wealthy British family on a yacht cruise, having a picnic on the beach of Isla Sorna, an island located 87 miles southwest of Isla Nublar. All is going well until the Bowmans' daughter, Cathy, runs afoul of a Compsognathus, or Compy for short, and its friends. Cathy is attacked by the Compys, and is injured by the attack.            We then cut to Ian Malcolm, who is taking a subway train to meet with John Hammond, who has just lost control of his company, InGen, to his nephew Peter Ludlow. Hammond then tells I

Review - Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just got home from seeing Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore . This is the latest entry in the Wizarding World  film series, and is directed once again by David Yates.          So, the movie starts off with Albus Dumbledore in a restaurant having tea, and it's here where he sits down for a conversation with dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. After this conversation with the two, we head to the jungles of China, where Newt Scamander goes to find and rescue a very powerful and very sacred magical creature called a Qilin (despite the spelling, it's pronounced "Chillin"), but the newborn Qilin is taken by Grindelwald's acolytes, including Credence Barebone. Later on, Newt, along with his brother Theseus, his American No-Maj friend Jacob Kowalski, Ilvermorny schoolteacher Lally Hicks, French-Senegalese wizard Yusuf Kama, and Newt's assistant Bunty, is given a new task by Dumbledore: cause a distraction to throw Grindelw

Review - The Legend of Zelda: The Sage of Darkness (2008)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, about a week ago, I picked up a copy of the game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch. And honestly, I have been thoroughly enjoying it. Playing the game got me into wanting to talk about something Zelda related, but unfortunately there are no official live-action feature films based on Nintendo's beloved fantasy game franchise. However, there are two fan films out there, and I would like to talk about my personal favorite of these with the 2008 fan film The Legend of Zelda: The Sage of Darkness , directed by Josh Dixon.         So, we open with a narration about the neverending cycle of Hyrule, and an eternal conflict between the Dark One, the Princess, and the Hero of Time, and how the cycle repeats itself every once in a century. After the opening credits, we meet Princess Zelda of Hyrule, who is the last holdout of the King's advisors keeping Hyrule from falling into the hands of Prince Ertegun of Gerudo Valley. E

My Thoughts on the 2022 Kid's Choice Awards

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, this evening was the evening of the annual Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, which this year was hosted by Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly  and professional athlete Rob Gronkowski. There were tons of celebrities, tons of awards, great music performances, and of course tons of that green goop known as Nickelodeon slime. So, let's get into the fun of the 2022 Kid's Choice Awards.         Okay, so let's start with the movie awards, as this is a blog focused on movies. First off, congrats to both Tom Holland and Zendaya for winning Favorite Movie Actor and Actress, respectively, for their performances in Spider-Man: No Way Home , which took home the award for Favorite Movie. Yep, Spider-Man took home THREE orange blimps this year, and I couldn't be happier. Even more exciting than that, though, is the winner of Favorite Animated Movie: Encanto . Lastly, Scarlett Johansson took home the orange blimp for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movi

Review - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's finally here. I just went to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2  in theaters, and here are my thoughts. This is the sequel to the 2020 film Sonic the Hedgehog, and sees the returns of actors James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Lee Majdoub, and Jim Carrey, with Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, and sees newcomers like Shemar Moore and the voices of Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna.           So, it's been a while since Sonic moved in with Tom and Maddie Wachowski, and Sonic has been working to be a hero. However, due to his youthful age and spirit, Sonic is a little too wreckless, and causes more harm than good. Luckily, he is given a big responsibility, as Tom and Maddie are heading to Hawaii for the wedding of Maddie's sister Rachel and her fiance Randall.         Unfortunately, however, Sonic's archenemy Dr. Robotnik has returned to Earth with help from Knuckles the Echidna, and the t

Review - Morbius (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just got home from seeing Morbius , the Sony Pictures film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. This movie stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Now, I would like to clarify that this movie is based on the world of Marvel Comics, but it is NOT a Marvel Studios production, and therefore Kevin Feige has nothing to do with this movie. The producer of this film is Avi Arad, who has been involved with making Marvel movies before Marvel Studios was a thing, and has continued to do so independently of Marvel Studios. So, how does this movie measure up? Let's discuss.          Okay, so this movie follows Dr. Michael Morbius, who has been afflicted by a blood disease since birth, and unless he finds a cure, he will die. Morbius believes that by mixing the DNA of humans with an anti-coagulating gland found in vampire bats, he can cure his disease. While it does work, it also has the unforseen side eff

Review - Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we're a week out from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 , and I'm here taking a look at other movies based on nostalgic franchises I grew up with. Today, I'll be jumping back into the world of Pokémon with the 2019 movie Pokémon: Detective Pikachu . Directed by Rob Letterman, this film marked the first foray of the Pokémon  franchise into live-action films, and it stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.         The movie opens at a Pokémon laboratory, which gets sabotaged, and a Mewtwo breaks out, attacks the researchers, and escapes, going after a car that flees the lab and is knocked over a bridge. But, we'll get to that later. We then cut to a small, rural town, where Tim Goodman and his friend Jack stake out a Cubone, which Tim unsuccessfully attempts to catch. Tim later gets a call from the Ryme City Police Department, who inform him that his father, Harry, was involved in an accident and is presuma
