Review - Jungle Cruise (2021)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I just got home from a fun-filled afternoon at the mall, which included a trip to the movie theater to watch Disney's new movie Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. And, I gotta say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Here's my review of Jungle Cruise.            Based on the Disney theme park ride of the same name, Jungle Cruise focuses on Lily Houghton, played by Blunt, who believes in the legend of the Tears of the Moon, an ancient and mystical tree hidden in the Amazon. Along with her brother MacGregor, played by Jack Whitehall, Lily hires river boat captain Frank Wolff, played by Johnson, to take them upriver to find it. Along the way, the trio are pursued by a shrewd harbormaster played by Paul Giamatti, a German Prince played by Jesse Plemons (Todd from Breaking Bad ) and cursed Conquistadors from the 16th Century. What other dangers do our three travelers run afoul of? You're just going to have to see the movie yourself

Review - Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (2021)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I just went to see the new movie Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins , and I would like to give my thoughts on the movie.  The latest film of the live-action G.I. Joe series is directed by Robert Schwentke, who most will recognize for having directed the second and third films of the Divergent  series: Insurgent and Allegiant . But, how does he handle something like the G.I. Joe series? Let's find out.          The movie opens with Snake Eyes as a child, witnessing men with guns show up and attack his father. Snake tries to stop them, but is overpowered and escapes, and the men kill Snake's father and burn the house down. Years later, and Snake is recruited by a man named Kenta, who offers him a chance to avenge his father's death, and get the man responsible. However, when Kenta orders Snake to kill a man named Tommy Arashikage, Snake turns on Kenta, and helps Tommy escape. As a sign of gratitude, Tommy takes Snake to Japan to be trained in t

Review - Remember the Titans (2000)/ Gridiron Gang (2006)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, in recent weeks, I've rewatched two very inspirational sports movies from the 2000's, both of which share a theme of teamwork overcome adversity. Those two movies are Remember the Titans,  starring Denzel Washington, and Gridiron Gang, starring Dwayne Johnson. Since Remember the Titans came first, and is the more popular of the two, we'll start with that one.             So, Remember the Titans  focuses on Coach Herman Boone, who in 1971 became the head coach of T.C. Williams High School's football team, with Coach Bill Yoast working with Boone as the team's assistant coach.  Boone, Yoast, and the rest of the team's coaching staff take the boys set to play that season to a multi-week training camp at Gettysburg College. The task of coaching the team is difficult at first due to them being the only high school football team in the state of Virginia at the time to be integrated, but as the camp progresses, the boys break down r

Review - Black Widow (2021)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, two months ago, we caught up with the second and third phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Marvel May , now we finally have the first film of Phase Four: Black Widow . I just got home from seeing it at my local theater, so let's dive right into it.          So, the movie opens with a prologue set in 1995, which shows Natasha Romanoff in her younger years, raised by Aleksi Shostakov and Milena Vostokoff, along with Yelena Belova. The four are forced to flee when S.H.I.E.L.D. agents track the four down, and they fly to Cuba, where General Dreykov takes Natasha and Yelena to be trained in the Red Room. Years later, after the events of Captain America: Civil War , Natasha finds herself on the run from Secretary Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who wants to arrest Natasha for violating the Sokovia Accords. Natasha gets away, and plans to stay in hiding. However, when a masked assassin named Taskmaster attacks her, she must reunite w

Review - Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's the Fourth of July, and since last year I looked at the 1996 sci-fi disaster film Independence Day,  this year I'm taking a look at its 2016 sequel: Independence Day: Resurgence .           It's been twenty years since the aliens first arrived on Earth, and a lot has changed since the events of what has become known as the "War of 1996." A new coalition, the Earth Space Defense, has been established, with David Levinson acting as its director. Alien technology has been married with our own, creating new, advanced vehicles and weapons. Among the members of ESD include Dylan Dubrow-Hiller, stepson of Steve Hiller (who died during a test flight of a prototype of the human/alien fighter jet), and Jake Morrison, whose parents died during the War of 1996. Jake is engaged to Patricia Whitmore, daughter of former President Tom Whitmore. Patricia was once an ESD pilot, but gave up flying to take care of her father, whose been having
