Marvel May - Moon Knight (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've reached the end of yet another Marvel May , and to finish the month out, I'd like to talk about the most recent Marvel series streaming on Disney+: Moon Knight .           So, the series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder. In fact, when we're introduced to him, we actually meet one of his two alternate personalities: Steven Grant. Steven is a bit more mild mannered and isn't into violence at all. Now, when the two personas meet, Marc reveals to Steven that he is the avatar of the Egyptian moon God Khonshu, and with it has a suit of power that he can summon at will. As Marc, the suit is referred to as Moon Knight, and as Steven, it's a suit design referred to as Mr. Knight.           So, we also learn that Marc's wife, Layla, is aware of the Moon Knight suit, but wasn't aware of Marc's DID until she meets Steven. Anyway, Marc/Steven and Layla set off to stop a man

Review - Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've waited the last couple of years to see this movie on the big screen, and it was well worth the wait. Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun , and stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Ed Harris, and a very brief appearance by Val Kilmer. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose work I am familiar with as I have seen both Tron: Legacy and Oblivion , two of his previous directorial efforts.          So, the movie focuses, once again, on U.S. Navy Captain Pete Mitchell aka "Maverick," who has been recalled to Top Gun to help train a group of recalled Top Gun graduates to complete a near-impossible mission to covertly destroy a weapons depot containing massive amounts of uranium. Among the aviators Maverick is training is Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, son of Maverick's late RIO and best friend Goose. Along the way, Maverick reunites with a former

Marvel May - Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Hey guys, Chuck here. For this Marvel May review, we'll be taking a quick look at the 2007 film Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, directed once again by Tim Story, and once again starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Kerry Washington, and Julian McMahon, who are joined this time by Andre Braugher, Doug Jones, and Beau Garrett, with Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer.        Okay, so while the world is getting ready for the upcoming wedding of Reed Richards and Susan Storm, an unknown cosmic anomaly is causing meteorological havoc across the globe, and also leaving massive holes around the world. General Hager of the U.S. military seeks Reed's assistance in tracking and identifying the anomaly, which later arrives in New York on the day of the big wedding, ruins the big day, and forces Sue's brother Johnny to go after it, and upon getting a close look sees what looks like a silver man on a flying silver surfboard.

Marvel May - Fantastic 4 (2005)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's about time to discuss Marvel's first family during Marvel May , as we take a look at the 2005 film Fantastic 4 starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Kerry Washington, and Julian McMahon.            So, we start of with Reed Richards and Ben Grimm going to a meeting with Victor Von Doom, where Reed presents his theory that exposure to a high-energy cosmic storm led to early development of life on Earth, and a similar cloud will pass by Earth's orbit in a matter of days. Reed's former girlfriend, and currently Victor's head of genetic research, Susan Storm walks in, and Victor and Reed agree on a deal for the mission, which will take place aboard Victor's space station. In the elevator, Reed requests Ben to pilot the mission into space, but Sue reveals that another pilot has been selected in her younger brother, Johnny.           Ben is initially reluctant to take orders from Johnny due to hi

Marvel May - The Punisher (2004)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, for today's review for Marvel May , we're going to take a look at one of my favorite Marvel films aimed primarily at an adult audience. A film that focuses on one of Marvel's more violent comic book characters, and one of my all-time favorite comic book characters. This is my review of the 2004 Jonathan Hensleigh film The Punisher starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta.            So, the movie opens with an arms deal going down at the docks in Tampa, Florida, only to be busted up in a sting operation by The FBI. This leads to the unintentional death of Robert Saint, son of Tampa nightclub owner and crime boss Howard Saint. One of the FBI agents involved with the sting operation is revealed to be Frank Castle, who is preparing to take some time off at his parents home in Puerto Rico for a family reunion, and will then move with his wife, Maria, and their son, Will, to London.          Unfortunately, Howard Saint has other plans for Frank

Marvel May - Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - Spoiler Talk

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, before we get to some of the other reviews for Marvel May , I'd like to discuss spoilers for a movie that I have reviewed previously: Spider-Man: No Way Home . This is a very special circumstance, given the fact that I have just given my reviews of the Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire and the two  The Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield, and BOTH series come into play with this film. Plus, the film is currently available on Blu-ray, 4K, digital, and DVD, so everyone should be able to have access to it now.          Okay, so as I said in my original review, Peter Parker has been outed as Spider-Man via video recording of Mysterio framing Spider-Man for the crimes Mysterio had committed. However, Peter is cleared of any legal charges thanks to a lawyer that I declined to identify in my original review. Now, I'm going to say who it is: Matt Murdock. I swear, I stood up and cheered in the theater when I saw Charlie Cox reprise his

Marvel May - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we talked about what is seen as one of the worst Spider-Man  movies last week with Spider-Man 3 , and now it's time to discuss a movie that was such a box office disappointment that Sony jumped into making a deal with Marvel Studios to have Spider-Man join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is my review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 once again directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Campbell Scott, and Sally Field, and also featuring newcomers like Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, B.J. Novak, Colm Feore, Marton Csokas, and Paul Giamatti.            Now, the movie opens with a prologue in which scientist Richard Parker destroys some of his research, and sends the rest to a private server so that it cannot be taken and continued by Oscorp. Having taken his son, Peter, to live with the boy's aunt and uncle, Richard and his wife Mary go on the run, but are attacked on the plane they're traveling

Marvel May - The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Okay, so after 2007's release of Spider-Man 3 , director Sam Raimi did begin development on a sequel, Spider-Man 4 , which would have seen the main cast return alongside a few new faces. However, Sony Pictures needed to have the film ready for a 2012 release date due to contracts with Marvel Entertainment requiring that Sony release a Spider-Man film at least five years after the release of the previous film, failure in doing so will result in the film rights reverting back to Marvel. Unfortunately, Sam Raimi felt he would be unable to meet the May 2012 release date, so the film was scrapped, and Sony decide to reboot the Spider-Man series with The Amazing Spider-Man .           The movie opens with a sequence of Peter Parker as a child, where he notices that his father's office has been ransacked. Peter's parents, Richard and Mary Parker, take Peter to the home of his Uncle Ben and Aunt May, as they are forced to flee, never to be seen again

Marvel May - Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, so far we've talked about the two best films of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Now, let's take a look at easily the worst film in said trilogy: Spider-Man 3 , which once again stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons, Elizabeth Banks, and Dylan Baker, and features newcomers James Cromwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Thomas Haden Church, and Topher Grace.             So, Peter Parker is living quite happily, balancing his time as both himself and Spider-Man. Peter is doing well in Sr. Connors' college class, but is being overshadowed by his classmate Gwen Stacy. On top of that, the city of New York absolutely loves and supports Spider-Man, and Peter is deeply committed to his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson. Unfortunately, Peter's friendship with Harry Osborn isn't going nearly as well, and one night, after having a night in Central Park with Mary Jane, and confiding in Aunt May about his desire t

Marvel May - Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I'd say that it's time to talk about the movie that, even to this day, is one of the most beloved Spider-Man movies ever made. So, for Marvel May , let's take a look at 2004's Spider-Man 2 once again starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Rosemary Harris, James Franco, J.K. Simmons, and Elizabeth Banks, and joining them this time are Alfred Molina, Donna Murphy, Daniel Gillies, and Dylan Baker, with a minor appearance of Aziz Ansari, and the film was directed once again by Sam Raimi.            So, it's been a couple of years since Peter Parker first got his superpowers and became Spider-Man, but unfortunately, he's struggling to maintain a dual life as both himself and as a superhero. After a late delivery of pizzas, he ultimately loses his job as a pizza delivery guy, and nearly loses his gig at the Daily Bugle, but relents by handing Jameson a new picture of Spider-Man. Meanwhile, he's also struggling in college as a

Marvel May - Spider-Man (2002)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've talked about quite a few Marvel Cinematic Universe titles to kick off this year's Marvel May , such as Loki, What If...?, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . But, before I give you guys my full review of Moon Knight , I'd like to break away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to discuss some other Marvel movies that were made outside of the MCU, starting with arguably one of the most beloved Marvel Comics superheroes: Spider-Man. So, let's get started with my review of the 2002 film Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, James Franco, J.K. Simmons, and directed by Sam Raimi.          So the movie explores both the origins of Spider-Man and his arch-nemesis the Green Goblin. In fact, we see that, during a senior class field trip to the Columbia University lab, Peter is bitten by one of the lab's genetically engineered super spiders. The spider's bite gives him extraordinary abilities

Marvel May - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, this marks the first Marvel May  to have a newly released Marvel Studios film. So, let's take a look at the new film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, Patrick Stewart, Hayley Atwell, and many others I don't wish to spoil for you guys. This film, which was directed by Sam Raimi, marks the first Marvel Comics film for Sam Raimi since Spider-Man 3 in 2007.         So, Dr. Stephen Strange, during the reception of Christine Palmer's wedding, is forced to defeat a multiverse monster that is attacking a girl named America Chavez, who wields the ability to freely traverse across the multiverse. After seeking the help of former Avenger Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch, Strange must traverse across the multiverse to keep America safe, and stop whatever is threatening to take her power, and thus the safet

Marvel May - What If...? (2021)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Today, for Marvel May , I'm checking out the first ever Marvel Studios animated series, What If...?  starring Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher. This series aired on Disney+ last summer, and explores the multiverse in very interesting and unique ways.          Okay, so The Watcher acts as a guide/narrator throughout the various scenarios explored throughout the series. And each scenario starts off with events that we've already seen in various MCU movies. One detail gets changed, and each episode explores what's different about the course of history based on said changes. For example, the series showcases what happened if say, Peggy Carter was injected with Erskine's supersoldier serum instead of Steve Rogers, or what if Yondu Udonta kidnapped T'Challa instead of Peter Quill, or what if Thor Odinson was an only child with Odin having never adopted Loki, or what if Hank Pym, when rescuing Janet from the Quantum Realm, accidentally unleashe

Marvel May - Loki (2021)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and that's right. Marvel May is back. We've pretty much covered every film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to this point, and yes I do plan to include my review of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as part of this year's Marvel May.  So to fill out the month, aside from Disney+ series I will be reviewing, I plan to look at films that exist outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. What will those be? Well, we'll get to that when the time comes. So, let's kick off this year's Marvel May with the Disney+ series Loki .         So, the series focuses on Loki, or rather the version of Loki from 2012 who escaped with the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame . So, after making his escape, Loki finds himself in the middle of a desert, only to be captured by agents of the Time Variance Authority, or TVA for short. The TVA makes it their mission to capture any variants that could cause a disruption to the
