Review - Frozen II (2019)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just got back from seeing the new movie Frozen II . And, well, I have a few thoughts about it.             First of all, let's start with the story. The movie is set three years after the events of the first Frozen , and a magic force has been awakened. A force that threatens all of Arendelle. Now it's up to Elsa, along with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven to travel North and save everyone. Along the way, Anna and Elsa learn the truth about the past, and work to right a wrong from the past to save the future for everyone.             There are a lot of things I like about this movie, and one of those things is that the movie really expands upon the world of Frozen , introducing new ideas and concepts that really feel like they make sense as per the universe this series is set in. I also like the performances of both the returning cast and the new cast members. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel shine once again as Anna and Elsa, and Josh Ga

Review - Frozen (2013)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Okay, here it is. My second review of the day, since there will be no Throwback Thursday review next Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Here we go, my review of Frozen .             Released in November of 2013, this movie by Walt Disney Animation Studios has become a powerhouse film, and went on to become the highest grossing animated film of all time, and winning several awards for Best Animated Feature, as well as winning the Oscar for best original song for the song "Let it Go." The story focuses on Anna and Elsa, two sisters who are the daughters of the King and Queen of Arendelle. Elsa, the older sister, has magic ice powers, and one night, while the two are playing, Elsa accidentally strikes Anna in the head with her ice magic. The King and Queen take them to a colony of trolls, where their leader Grand Pabbie heals Anna's head and erases her memories of Elsa's powers. As the years go on, Elsa secludes herself from An

Throwback Thursday - A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's once again Throwback Thursday here on Chuck's Movie Breakdown , and well, I'd like to take a look at a classic special this week. In fact, it's a personal favorite of mine. This week, we'll be discussing A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving .              Before we get started, I'd like to let you guys know that there will be NO Throwback Thursday next Thursday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. So, in lieu of posting a Throwback Thursday review on Thanksgiving, I decided to post two reviews today. This one is the first, and the second, which is my review of Frozen , will be posted later on. After next Thursday, scheduling should be back to normal until at lest mid-December, but I'll get into that when the time comes. With all that out of the way, let's get started. Her we go: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving .            So the special, which was one of many holiday specials that Charles M. Schulz created with th

Throwback Thursday - Jimmy Neutron - Operation: Rescue Jet Fusion (2003)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Apologies for missing last week's Throwback Thursday, but unfortunately some things came up, and I was unable to post a Throwback Thursday review. However, this week, we're back on schedule for the time being, so let's talk about Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius .              Based on the 2001 feature film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius , the television spin-off series was one of Nickelodeon's most popular Nicktoons at the time, and along with shows like The Fairly OddParents, My Life as a Teenage Robot, All Grown Up , and SpongeBob SquarePants . Because of the show's popularity, Nickelodeon produced several specials and TV movies. One of those specials was called Operation: Rescue Jet Fusion . Cashing in on the popularity of the James Bond series of films, this made-for-TV movie features a special celebrity voice cast that included the likes of Christian Slater, Wendie Malick, Michael Clarke Duncan, Dan

Review - Terminator: Dark Fate

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just got back from seeing Terminator: Dark Fate . The sixth entry overall in the Terminator franchise, this movie ultimately ignores the last three entries in the Terminator series and acts as more of a direct follow-up to the original two films in the series.       So the story is that after Sarah Conner, her son John, and the T-800 prevented the creation of Skynet in Terminator 2: Judgment Day , another T-800 catches up with them in the year 1998 and kills John. Twenty-two years pass and a new kind of Terminator, a Rev-9, is sent by a new artificial intelligence unit called Legion to terminate Daniella "Dani" Ramos, with an augmented human named Grace being sent back to keep Dani alive. They eventually meet Sarah, who works with them to keep Dani from being killed by the Rev-9. Along the way, they recruit Carl, the T-800 that killed John years earlier, and has since learned more about humanity and is willing to help stop the Rev-9.

Review - The Little Mermaid Live

Hey guys, Chuck here, and it's hard to believe that Disney's animated classic, The Little Mermaid , is thirty years old. I remember watching the movie on VHS as a kid, and I also picked it up on Blu-ray earlier this year. However, this evening as part of The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC, Disney produced a special event titled The Little Mermaid Live , and I'm here to talk about it.             In the past few years, TV networks like NBC and FOX have been producing live televised versions of popular stage musicals ( The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, Grease, Rent , etc.). So, for ABC to produce one is not a surprise. However, what ABC and Disney did differently is that it primarily showed footage from the original animated film, cutting to live performances with the selected actors for the event for the musical numbers (Fathoms Below, Under the Sea, Part of Your World, etc.). In addition, during the live performances, there are also puppets of sea creatures al

Review - V for Vendetta (2006)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Today, I'll be taking a look at the movie V for Vendetta .          Released in 2006, this political action thriller is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The film was written and produced by the Wachowskis, the filmmaking duo behind The Matrix Trilogy , and was directed by James McTeigue. The film is set in a future dystopian London, under the thumb of a fascist regime, and focuses on a masked vigilante known as V (played by Hugo Weaving). On an early November's night, V meets a woman named Evey Hammond (played by Natalie Portman), and after rescuing her from a group of Fingermen, he takes her to a rooftop where they witness the destruction of the Old Bailey at the stroke of midnight on November 5th. The following day, V announces that he intends to do the same to the Parliament building in exactly one year. The rest of the film focuses on the investigation into V, and attempting to prevent V from destroying Parli

Review - Weeping Willow: A Hunger Games Fan Film

Hey guys, Chuck here. One of the most popular film series of the decade, outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is The Hunger Games . Based on the book series of the same name by Suzanne Collins, the series was very successful, both critically and commercially, for about four years in a row, turning a major profit for Lionsgate Films, as well as making actress Jennifer Lawrence a household name. On top of the films themselves, there are also a number of fan made projects inspired by the series, including a five-part series of videos produced by various YouTubers in conjunction with Lionsgate as part of a viral marketing campaign for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 . However, the fan-made project I'm taking a look at is a fan film called Weeping Willow .              Set during the 52nd Hunger Games, this fan film focuses on Willow and her older brother Tristan, two siblings from District 7. We meet the two as they are getting ready for the Reaping, and two t
