HallowScream - The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

      Hey guys, Chuck here. Happy Halloween. To wrap up this year's HallowScream, we're going to be celebrating fifty years of the sci-fi comedy musical classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richard O'Brien, Nell Campbell, Meat Loaf, and Patricia Quinn. 

      After an opening credits sequence to a song that references classic sci-fi and monster movies, we cut to the aftermath of a wedding ceremony. Two of the wedding guests, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, end up engaged themselves, and decide to share the news of their engagement with their old college professor Dr. Everett Scott. However, their car breaks down in the middle of the woods during a rainstorm, and they follow the lights to a massive castle, where a party is being hosted by Dr. Frank-n-Furter, who claims to be a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania." 

      In the upstairs laboratory, Frank-n-Furter has created a man, dubbed Rocky, who is a simple minded but muscly individual. We also meet the other residents of the castle, such as a groupie named Columbia, the house staff siblings of Riff Raff and Magenta, and of course Eddie, who rides a motorcycle and plays sax. But, Frank-n-Furter kills Eddie, spends the evening with Rocky, as well as both Janet and Brad. Riff Raff, for a bit of fun, scares off Rocky, who gets hurt, and ends up tended to by Janet, and the two make love. 

       Dr. Scott soon arrives, looking for Eddie,.who turns out to be Dr. Scott's nephew. Things are tense at dinner, and a chase ensues, with Frank-n-Furter using a machine called the "Medusa Transducer" to turn Brad, Janet, Dr. Scott, Rocky, and Columbia to statues. And, it's here where we get the iconic floor show sequence, with Janet, Rocky, Columbia, and Brad performing with Frank-n-Furter on a stage with an RKO Pictures logo as the background. But, just as things get wild, Riff Raff and Magenta bust up the fun, with Riff Raff deeming that he and Magenta will be returning to their home world, and they use a laser to kill Frank-n-Furter, Columbia, and Rocky, and send Janet, Brad, and Dr. Scott on their way. And, just what does this mean? Well, the trio of Frank-n-Furter, Riff Raff, and Magenta were aliens from a planet called Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. 

       The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an absolutely fun movie. The musical numbers, which originated from a stage musical called The Rocky Horror Show, are iconic, with the song "Time Warp" being easily the most memorable. The performances, which include the likes of Tim Curry as Frank-n-Furter, Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff, Susan Sarandon as Janet, Barry Bostwick as Brad, and Meat Loaf as Eddie, are all fantastic. And, thanks to late night screenings and special events including "shadow cast" actors performing along with the movie, the film became a cult classic that is still loved to this day. And, honestly, I definitely enjoy this one around the Halloween season, along with other fantastic movie musicals like Sweeney Todd.

Review - Snow White (2025)

       Well, here we are. Snow White , the latest film from Disney to reimagine one of their animated classics, was directed by Marc Webb, written by Erin Cressida Wilson, and stars Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, and Ansu Kabia, with motion capture performances by Martin Klebba, Jeremy Swift, George Salazar, and Titus Burgess just to name a few.        So, the movie tells the story of Snow White, a princess who goes on the run when, after consulting with the Spirit of the Magic Mirror, the Evil Queen grows jealous of her innermost radiance and wants her dead. Review - The Penguin (2024)

        Hey guys, Chuck here. The Penguin is the most recent series from HBO, and is a spin-off of the 2022 Matt Reeves film The Batman .          The series focuses on Oswald "Oz" Cobb, who is portrayed once again by Colin Farrell. Oz, after the events of the movie The Batman , finds himself in a very interesting position as far as the criminal underbelly of Gotham is concerned. Carmine Falcone is dead, Sal Maroni is still locked up, and there's a power play among the major criminal factions in the city. So, Oz takes on a young protege, Vic, and works in tandem with Sofia Falcone, Carmine's daughter, to reshape the criminal underworld of Gotham.           Now, not only does The Penguin showcase Oz's rise to greater power, but it also showcases a similar uprising for Sofia, who spent years in Arkham after being sent there by her father.
