My Thoughts on WWE Evolution (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, yesterday saw the WWE host a premium event called WWE Evolution. This was the second ever WWE Evolution event since the original in 2018, and the thing that makes it stand out from most other premium events for the WWE is that WWE Evolution consists entirely of women's matches. And, yes, this meant that almost EVERY WWE Women's title was on the line.

Kicking off the event was a Triple-threat match for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship between Becky Lynch, Lyra Valkyria, and Bayley, which saw Becky Lynch retain her title. But, I do gotta give a shout-out to both Lyra Valkyria and Bayley for putting on one hell of a match. Next up was a one-on-one match for the NXT Women's Championship between Jacy Jayne and Jordynne Grace, which saw Jacy Jayne, who thoroughly impressed me in the match, retain her title. Next up was a big one. A Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship between the Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane and Asuka), Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, Sol Ruca and Saria, and the Judgement Day (Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez), which saw the Judgement Day retain their titles. And, while I am, admittedly, not a fan of the Judgement Day faction, I gotta say that Roxanne Perez was absolutely fantastic in the ring. Also, both Sol Ruca and Saria were pretty impressive, and seeing the Kabuki Warriors in action together is always a lot of fun. And, of course, I will never not enjoy watching Alexa Bliss in a wrestling match.

Next after that, we had a match for the WWE Women's Championship between Tiffany Stratton and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, which saw Tiffany Stratton retain her title. Yes, that means that it's still "Tiffy Time." But, I just gotta say that, even all these years later, Trish Stratus has still got it. Anyway, next up was a No Holds Barred match between Naomi and Jade Cargill, with Bianca Belair as special guest referee, and Jade Cargill emerged victorious after a thoroughly brutal match.

The next match was a 20-woman battle royal, where the winner was guaranteed a title match at WWE Clash in Paris, which will be held next month. And, among the women who participated in the battle royal were the likes of Natalya, Nikki Bella, Zelina Vega, Alba Frye, Nia Jax, Candice LeRae, Chelsea Green, Giulia, Ivy Nile, Michin, and Lash Legend. But, at the end of it, Stephanie Vaquer overcame the odds and won the match, securing a title shot at WWE Clash in Paris next month.

And, that brings me to the main event: a WWE Women's World Championship match between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley. BUT, as opposed to the one-on-one match we were SUPPOSED to get, and we were getting for a good amount of the match with Rhea and Iyo going back and forth quite nicely, Naomi decided to cash in her Money in the Bank contract, thus making it a Triple-threat match between Iyo, Rhea, and Naomi. And, while she lost to Jade Cargill earlier in the event, Naomi was able to win here, which made the Women's World Championship the ONLY title to change hands during the entirety of WWE Evolution

Now, while I enjoyed the commentary by Michael Cole and Wade Barrett, it was the two hosts of the evening that I had the most fun watching and hearing their insights. The hosts were Joe Tessitore, who is a commentator on WWE Friday Night SmackDown and is co-host of WWE Saturday Night Main Event, and Stephanie McMahon, who while no longer active in WWE operations, does still participate in WWE events from time to time. And, if you ask me, it's always great to see Stephanie McMahon show up.

Overall, I enjoyed watching WWE Evolution. Do I think that WWE should make this an annual event? Nah, I don't think so. But, bringing it back every couple of years or so wouldn't be too bad. If WWE Evolution does become an annual event, I wouldn't be opposed to it, necessarily, but I think it's one of those events that's more enjoyable every once in a short while. But, at least seeing Stephanie Vaquer win a title shot has me more excited for Clash in Paris next month, on top of how excited I already was for WWE SummerSlam

Alright guys, this is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you in the next review.
