Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025
Hey guys, Chuck here. Happy New Year. It's officially 2025, which means we have a new year's worth of movies to get through, and by comparison to a somewhat lackluster 2024, 2025 looks to be a banger year at the box office. So, without further ado, here are my Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025.
Before we get started, here are a couple Honorable Mentions: Ballerina: this John Wick spin-off sees Ana De Armas as a ballerina trained to be an assassin; Saw XI: John Kramer returns, once again, with a new set of traps and games after the success of Saw X; Five Nights at Freddy's 2: the surprise success of 2023 is followed up by a new chapter with a new set of killer animatronics; Wolf Man: Universal and Blumhouse re-team with The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell for this reimagining of a Universal monster classic; A Minecraft Movie: a live-action/CGI adaptation of the once-popular video game Minecraft with Jack Black and Jason Momoa; Lilo & Stitch: the 2002 Disney animated favorite comes to life in live-action.
Okay, so now with the Honorable Mentions out of the way, we're on to the Top 10:
#10 - How to Train Your Dragon: as if Disney remaking their animated films wasn't enough, Universal seems to be jumping on the bandwagon with this live-action reimagining of the 2010 DreamWorks animated favorite about a Viking who befriends a dragon.
#9 - Wicked: For Good: the second half of director Jon M. Chu's two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked sees Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba further embrace her destiny of being the Wicked Witch of the West.
#8 - The Marvel Cinematic Universe Films: okay, so we have three new movies from Marvel Studios in 2025: Captain America: Brave New World, which hits theaters in February, Thunderbolts*, which hits theaters in May, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which supposedly hits theaters in July. Now, which Captain America looks like a pretty kickass spy thriller, and Thunderbolts* looks like fun, the only one I'm genuinely interested in is Fantastic Four. But, I definitely plan to see all three.
#7 - Mortal Kombat 2: this sequel to 2021's Mortal Kombat will see our heroes from the previous film team up with new heroes like Johnny Cage in order to face the forces of Outworld in Mortal Kombat.
#6 - Now You See Me 3: in what's almost been too long since the last time we saw them, the Horsemen return for a new adventure with magic tricks and shining the light on bad men.
#5 - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning: Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in this continuation of Dead Reckoning, and we see what could possibly be Ethan's final mission.
#4 - Tron: Ares: Disney returns to one of my favorite Disney franchises, Tron, with a new chapter that sees a Program named Ares enter the User World.
#3 - Jurassic World: Rebirth: from director Gareth Edwards and original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp comes this seventh chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise, which will see the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali go toe-to-toe with dinosaurs, both new and familiar.
#2 - Avatar: Fire & Ash: James Cameron returns for a third trip to the world of Pandora, where Jake Sully and his family face a new threat in a volcano dwelling tribe of Na'vi called the Ash People.
#1 - Superman: the DC Universe finally kicks off with James Gunn's new reimagining of the Man of Steel, who will stand for truth, justice, and the American way, alongside other heroes like Guy Gardner/Green Lantern and Hawkgirl.
Well, there you have it. My Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025. Now, obviously, I'll be most likely seeing more than these that I listed. These are just the movies I am the most excited to see over the course of this year.
Alright guys, this is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys next time with my review of Hook.
