Review - That '90s Show: Part Three (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we got to return to Point Place a bit earlier than previously announced. That '90s Show: Part Three was released on Netflix on August 22nd, and it was pretty damn hilarious.

Part Three picks up some time after Part Two ended with Sonny, Leo's son, drove his car through the wall of Kitty Forman's kitchen. Unfortunately, Red and Kitty find out, and Nate takes the fall for everyone. Red, of course, has Nate do all kinds of chores, including cleaning the driveway, getting rid of a wasp's nest, and fixing the hole in the wall. The rest of the episodes are pretty much hijinks as usual. And, we get to meet Jay's half-sister Betsy. Yeah remember in That '70s Show when Kelso and Brooke had a baby? Well, she's all grown up in this series. And, I gotta say that Kira Kosarin, whose return performance as Phoebe in The Thundermans Return was a lot of fun, was really well cast as Betsy, and definitely gives off the kind of vibe I would want to see from a daughter of Michael Kelso.

Also, Ozzie meets a guy at a wrestling convention, where an in-universe wrestling icon is played by WWE Superstar The Miz. And, Nikki is with a theater kid for a brief amount of time, ending things with him after he's shown to be just as immature as Nate, who still wants to be with Nikki. We get to meet Gwen's dad, Otis, who is a commercial truck driver, and he's pretty cool. Oh, and there are quite a few appearances by Sonny and Bunch, which leads to a slew of mid-level Jay and Silent Bob antics. And, we get some appearances by David DeLuise as a judge, Seth Green as Mitch, and Don Stark as Bob, as well as more appearances by Laura Prepon, who directed all eight episodes, as Donna. And, of course, we get a lot more scenes with Andrea Anders as Sherri, and she is just as hilarious as she was in the first season.

And, of course the lead cast is all fantastic. Kurtwood Smith and Deborah Jo Rupp as Red and Kitty were great, but the teens really shine this go around. Callie Haverda as Leia, Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen, Mace Coronel as Jay, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate are all fantastic, and have really grown into their roles in the series.

The '90s references are fantastic. Two notable references are scenes that satirize such classic '90s movies as Pulp Fiction and Clueless, and there's an episode where they name drop Montel Williams a few times. Honestly, this, to me, is the general bread and butter of a show like this, the nods to movies and pop culture icons from the '90s. Heck, we even get some audio from America's Funniest Home Videos when Red and Kitty are watching TV. Honestly, now I'm hoping we get more episodes so we can get even more '90s nostalgia, like maybe the teens get to see some of the popular movies from 1997 like Con Air, Hercules, Men in Black, or even Spawn. Perhaps we see Nate and Jay read some Spawn comics, or play Tekken at an arcade. There are still so many possibilities with what nostalgic '90s references they can do.

Overall, when combining both Part Two and Part Three, the second season of That '90s Show is a ton of fun. And, I hope Netflix gives it a third season, because I want to see more. I'm giving That '90s Show Season Two (which includes both Part Two and Part Three) a rating of 4.95/5.

Alright guys, this is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys in the next review.
