Review - Terminator Zero (2024)

Alright guys, Chuck here, and we have another new anime to talk about. Terminator Zero, released on Netflix, was created by Mattson Tomlin, directed by Masashi Kudō, produced by Production I.G. and Skydance Television, and stars Timothy Olyphant, André Holland, Sonoya Mizuno, Rosario Dawson, and Ann Dowd.          So, Terminator Zero is set in Japan in the 1990's. Judgement Day is still approaching, and a scientist named Malcolm Lee is developing a new AI system called Kokoro, which is a Japanese AI meant to compete with Skynet. Threatened by the Kokoro AI, Skynet sends a Terminator from the year 2022 to kill Malcolm and his family, while a Resistance soldier named Eiko is sent back to keep Malcolm and his family alive, but also prevent the launch of the Kokoro AI.          Okay, so something that I find pretty fascinating about Terminator Zero is how it acts more as a parallel to certain events that were talked about in the Terminator franchise, such as the activation of

Review - Dave (1993)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, here in the United States, we're gearing up for yet another Presidential Election. So, in commemoration of this, I wanted to talk about a couple movies I enjoy that deal with the President of the United States, and this will be the first of two reviews. The next one will come out next month. So, as for today's review, I'm taking a look at Dave, a 1993 political comedy by Ivan Reitman, and starring Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Frank Langella, Kevin Dunn, Ving Rhames, Laura Linney and Ben Kingsley.        The movie focuses on Dave Kovics, who is the head of a temp agency in Washington DC, and bears an identical resemblance to the current President, William Mitchell. Because of this, the Secret Service, sent by White House Chief of Staff Bob Alexander, hire Dave to act as a one-time body double for President Mitchell. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a one-time gig is extended, as the President, while having sex with a White House staffe

Review - That '90s Show: Part Three (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we got to return to Point Place a bit earlier than previously announced. That '90s Show : Part Three was released on Netflix on August 22nd, and it was pretty damn hilarious.            Part Three picks up some time after Part Two ended with Sonny, Leo's son, drove his car through the wall of Kitty Forman's kitchen. Unfortunately, Red and Kitty find out, and Nate takes the fall for everyone. Red, of course, has Nate do all kinds of chores, including cleaning the driveway, getting rid of a wasp's nest, and fixing the hole in the wall. The rest of the episodes are pretty much hijinks as usual. And, we get to meet Jay's half-sister Betsy. Yeah remember in That '70s Show when Kelso and Brooke had a baby? Well, she's all grown up in this series. And, I gotta say that Kira Kosarin, whose return performance as Phoebe in The Thundermans Return was a lot of fun, was really well cast as Betsy, and definitely gives off the kind of v

Review - Suicide Squad Isekai (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Suicide Squad Isekai is an anime series co-produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Japan, and WIT Studios, based on the comic book team by DC Comics. The series streamed it's ten episodes on both MAX and Hulu, released with original Japanese audio, followed each week by the English dubbed version.          The series centers on Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad, who are sent through a portal to another world, a more medieval one known as an Isekai. The squad lineup consists of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Clayface, King Shark, and Peacemaker, who work with Rick Flag to deal with another Suicide Squad team gone rogue. Along the way, the squad must prove themselves to some of the locals, who believe that they are part of an opposing force, which the rogue squad is working with. Also, the microbombs in the heads of the squad need to be reset, as they're on a seventy-two hour timer, and the only way to reset them is a sky portal linking back to t

Review - Lilo & Stitch (2002)

Hey guys, Chuck here. After the recent D23 Expo, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the 2002 Disney animated classic Lilo & Stitch, featuring the voice talents of Daveigh Chase, Chris Sanders, Tia Carrere, Ving Rhames, David Ogden Stiers, Kevin McDonald, Jason Scott Lee, Zoe Caldwell, and Kevin Michael Richardson.         The movie opens on the planet Turo, where the United Galactic Federation has taken evil scientist Dr. Jumba Jookiba into custody, charging him for illegal experimentation, and we see his latest creation dubbed Experiment 626. Seeing how ill-behaved Experiment 626 is, the Grand Councilwoman, along with the rest of the council, sentences the creature to exile on an unpopulated asteroid. However, Experiment 626 escapes, steals a ship, and ends up traveling to the planet Earth, where he crash lands on the island of Kauai, which is one of the islands of Hawaii. The Grand Councilwoman sends Jumba, along with Earth expert Agent Pleakley, to retrieve Expe

Review - Alien: Romulus (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Alien: Romulus is the latest film in the legendary sci-fi horror franchise Alien . The movie is directed by Fede Alvarez, and stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Reneaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.        So, the movie sees a young crew that consists of Rain, Andy, Tyler, Kay, Bjorn, and Navarro exploring an abandoned space station, which is divided into two parts: Romulus and Remus. Of course, as they explore the station in search of equipment they need to reach a far-off planet, they run afoul of the deadly creatures known as the Xenomorphs, as well as an android named Rook, and all hell breaks loose.        Okay, so one thing that Alien: Romulus does quite well is that it recaptures the feeling of suspense and sheer terror of the original Alien . Fede Alvarez, who of course is known for directing horror films like Don't Breathe and the 2013 Evil Dead , really did an excellent job of recapturing the horror element that made the

Review - The Bourne Identity (2002)

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, I am really excited for today's review, as it's for a movie I've wanted to review for a while now. This is my review of The Bourne Identity , based characters created by author Robert Ludlum. This movie was released by Universal Pictures, stars Matt Damon, Chris Cooper, Franka Potente, Clive Owen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Julia Stiles, and Brian Cox.         So, the movie opens with a crew of Italian fishermen pulling the seemingly dead body of a man out of the Mediterranean. The crew's medic, Giancarlo, pulls bullets from the man's back, as well as a laser projector in his hip. The man wakes up, but has no memory of who he is. However, he can perform several cognitive functions, such as reading, writing, and knot tying. Some days later, the boat lands in Zurich, where the man goes to a bank identified by the laser projector. In a safety deposit box, also identified by the laser projector, the man finds an American passport, and fr

Breakdown - Disney D23 '24 Presentation

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, don't count Disney out just yet, because last night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, the company's big presentation at the D23 Expo was held, and Disney came out swinging hard. And, there are so many things to get through, so let's go ahead and get started.         Okay, so the presentation kicked off with a new trailer for the upcoming Moana 2 , which reveals some plot info, and shows us Moana's little sister, who is a new character. Moana 2 , featuring the returns of Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, is set to hit theaters this November. Speaking of Dwayne Johnson, it looks like he will be starring in a new Disney movie called Monster Jam , which will center on monster truck drivers. Now, I'm kind of intrigued by this, as Monster Jam itself is pretty popular, so the idea of Disney making a movie about it is kinda neat, and with Dwayne Johnson as the star, anything is possible.        But, the first major pop I had while

Review - Borderlands (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I made it home from my L.A. trip, which was a ton of fun. But, there's a new movie out this weekend, so I'm here to review it. So, here we go. My review of Borderlands, based on the video game series of the same name. This movie was directed by Eli Roth, and stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and the voice of Jack Black.          So, Borderlands follows a ragtag group of misfits, led by a woman named Lilith, as they traverse a rugged and deadly planet to reach a Vault, with the help of Tiny Tina, who is the daughter of a very powerful figure in  the universe named Atlas.        Okay, so while the movie Borderlands wasn't exactly great, I'll be damned if it wasn't a fun time. This movie is just a blast to watch, and I had a ton of fun with it. Now, just because it was fun, doesn't mean it was good, let alone great. It was okay at best, and a ton of fun to watch

Review - WaterWorld (1995)

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, I recently was in Los Angeles, where I visited the world famous Universal Studios park. And, of course, while I was there, I got to see the iconic water stunt show themed to the movie WaterWorld . So, I thought it'd be neat to talk about the actual movie. With that in mind, here's my review of the Universal Pictures film WaterWorld , directed by Kevin Reynolds, and starring Kevin Costner, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Dennis Hopper, Michael Jeter, Jack Black, Gerard Murphy, Kim Coates, and Tina Majorino.         So, the movie is set in the far future, where the polar ice caps melted, flooding the Earth, and leaving all of the major continents underwater. In this new world, known as WaterWorld, people live on floating metal communities called Atolls, or sail the waves as Drifters. A few believe in a mythical place called "Dryland," but others dismiss it as a mere legend.         Our main protagonist is a Drifter known as the Mariner. Mariner is

Review - Batman: Caped Crusader (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Batman: Caped Crusader is a new animated series, currently streaming on Amazon Prime, based on the character of Batman from DC Comics. The series was developed by Bruce Timm, who famously worked on Batman: The Animated Series , Matt Reeves, director of 2022's The Batman , and J.J. Abrams.         Now, of course, the series is focused on Bruce Wayne, a Gotham City socialite who also operates as the masked crime fighter known as Batman. But, the series takes more of a grounded, film noir approach, thus the world of Gotham, and the characters that inhabit it, such as Catwoman, Clayface, Penguin, and Harley Quinn are just as grounded. And, honestly, I like this choice of tone. Especially combining the tone with the animation style, which is very much the animation style we saw in the classic Batman: The Animated Series , this film noir approach really fits the type of story the series is telling, and gives us a Gotham that really stands out from past animat
