Review - Bullet Train (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and I just went to see the new movie Bullet Train, directed by David Leitch and starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, Zazie Beets, Michael Shannon, Sandra Bullock, Bad Bunny, Andrew Koji, Logan Lerman, with brief appearances by Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds. This movie is based on a Japanese novel titled Maria Beetle, but is titled Bullet Train in English translations.

So, the movie is set in Japan, where various mercenaries and assassins find themselves on the same Japanese bullet train bound from Tokyo to Kyoto. Among them are a smash-and-grab specialist codenamed "Ladybug," who is filling in for another mercenary, Carver, who is sick. Two mercenary brothers named "Tangerine" and "Lemon" are on the train to safely deliver the son of a crime boss named "White Death" back to the young man's father, along with a briefcase with the ransom money. That same briefcase is a target for pickup by "Ladybug," by the way. We also have Yuichi Kimura/"The Father" on the train, having been tricked into the train by a young woman named "The Prince," who is a highly skilled mercenary posing as a British schoolgirl. Others on the train include a Mexican assassin called "The Wolf," who is seeking to avenge the deaths of everyone who died at his wedding, including his wife, and "The Hornet," who uses deadly Boomslang venom to poison her victims. And honestly, I really need to stop talking about the plot, because I would be spoiling some of the funniest parts of this movie.

Honestly, everyone in this movie, from Brad Pitt to Joey King, from Zazie Beets to Michael Shannon, from Hiroyuki Sanada to Sandra Bullock, and so on were all fantastic, with my two favorites being Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry as Tangerine and Lemon, and I effing loved the hilarious gag of Lemon using Thomas the Tank Engine characters as metaphors for various people.

The action in this movie is so well done, and the situations for the various fights so damn hysterical, that I enjoyed every single one of these scenes. Add to that some really clever dialogue and hysterical jokes and one-liners, and honest to God, I find this movie to be easily one of my favorites of the year. I'm giving Bullet Train a rating of 5/5. Honestly, you guys gotta check this movie out, because you're going to be in the edge of your seat and laughing your ass off at the same time.

This is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys next time.
