Top 15 Most Anticipated Movies of 2021

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's a new year, which hopefully means new movies arriving in movie theaters. I only say hopefully right now due to the fact that my local theater is still closed due to COVID-19. However, I'm a bit of an optimist, so I am confident that things will get better, and we'll get to go back to movie theaters again soon. So, since I couldn't give you guys a Top 10 favorite movies of 2020, I'm giving you guys my Top 15 Most Anticipated Movies of 2021. Here we go.

Before we get to the main list, here are a few honorable mentions: Venom: Let There Be Carnage starring Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson; Spiral starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson; Halloween Kills starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer; Space Jam: A New Legacy starring Lebron James and the Looney Tunes; A Quiet Place Part II starring Emily Blunt. Okay, now onto the list of films that are my Top 15 Most Anticipated Movies of 2021

#15. Death on the Nile: Director Kenneth Branagh returns as both director and lead actor, once again taking on the role of master detective Hercule Poirot. Joined by the likes of Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright, Russell Brand, and so on, this follow up to Murder on the Orient Express is definitely one I'm looking forward to.

#14. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals: Two MCU films in the same spot? Well, the reason for this, and why both are as low on the list as they are, is because I know next to nothing about either the Eternals or Shang-Chi. However, as a fan of the MCU, I definitely plan to see both movies.

#13. Resident Evil: a reboot of the Resident Evil movies, this one is set to star the likes of Kaya Scodelario, Robbie Amell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Neal McDonough, and looks to be more faithful to the original video games, unlike the last time Resident Evil made the jump to the big screen.

#12. Cruella: Disney is making a movie focused on the origins of the iconic villain from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, with Emma Stone filling in the role of Cruella de Vil. Set in the 1970's, this film looks to be an interesting one for the House of Mouse.

#11. No Time to Die: the twenty-fifth James Bond film, Daniel Craig is back for one last outing as James Bond. Joined by Lashana Lynch, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Jeffrey Wright, and Ralph Firmness, the next 007 movie is definitely exciting.

#10. Top Gun: Maverick: the director of Tron: Legacy and Oblivion re-teams with actor Tom Cruise in this long-awaited sequel to Top Gun. Miles Teller, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, and Jennifer Connelly are also set to star.

#9. F9: the next chapter of the Fast and Furious series sees Dominic Toretto and co. face off against Dom's own brother, Jakob. Vin Diesel vs. John Cena? Sounds like fun. Lucas Black and Bow Wow reprise their roles from Tokyo Drift, and Sung Kang returns as Han.

#8. Mortal Kombat: a new adaptation of the iconic fighting game series, Mortal Kombat is set for an R-rating, which means we're getting the gory fatalities that have defined the games for decades.

#7. Spider-Man: No Way Home:  The third chapter of the MCU Spider-Man series sees Spidey face off against returning villains from other Spider-Man film franchises, such as Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. Tom Holland and Zendaya are back as Peter Parker and MJ, with Benedict Cumberbatch joining as Doctor Strange.

#6. Black Widow: This was one we were supposed to get last year, but COVID-19 happened, so we had to wait for a year to get this one. Scarlett Johansson is set to headline her own MCU movie, and her character of Natasha Romanoff is set to face one of my favorite Marvel Comics' villains: Taskmaster.

#5. Godzilla vs. Kong: the next chapter of Warner Bros. and Legendary's MonsterVerse pits Godzilla and Kong against each other in this follow-up to Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island.

#4. Ghostbusters Afterlife: from director Jason Reitman, we're getting a continuation of the Ghostbusters movies, with the focus being on two teens that (according to fan speculation) are the grandchildren of Egon from the original two movies. Paul Rudd is set to appear in the movie as well, which has me definitely looking forward to seeing it.

#3. Dune: from the director of Blade Runner 2049 comes a star-studded adaptation of Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novel. After the first trailer dropped back in September, I definitely was excited to see this one on the big screen.

#2. The Suicide Squad: James Gunn joins the DCEU as director of this latest film to feature the Suicide Squad. Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman return, and are joined by the likes of Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, and John Cena.

#1. The Matrix Resurrections: holy crap, who'd have thought we'd be getting a new Matrix movie? Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith return in this latest entry in the iconic series from director and series co-creator Lana Wachowski, and are joined by newcomers Jonathan Groff, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, and Neil Patrick Harris.

And there you have it. My Top 15 Most Anticipated Movies of 2021. Hopefully, I'll be able to see these movies in the movie theater, but we'll see what 2021 has in store. This is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys next time.
