Review - Lightyear (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and this is my review of Pixar's latest movie Lightyear starring Chris Evans, Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, and James Brolin.           The movie actually opens with a text that tells us about how Andy's Buzz Lightyear toy from the Toy Story movies was based on a character in a sci-fi movie that exists within the universe of Toy Story , and the movie we're watching is that very movie.          So, the movie itself focuses on the titular space ranger Buzz Lightyear, who inadvertently leads the various crew members on an exploratory vessel stranded on an uncharted planet, and Buzz, along with his friend Commander Hawthorne, work to achieve hyperspace and return everyone home, this completing their mission objective. Unfortunately, the more Buzz attempts the hyperspace launch, the further into the future he goes, until he arrives in a future where the crew, and their descendants, are forc...

Review - Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I just got back from seeing Jurassic World: Dominion , the third film in the Jurassic World trilogy, and sixth overall in the Jurassic Park franchise. Directed by the returning Colin Trevorrow, this film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Campbell Scott, and a host of others.              So, a few years have passed since the events of Fallen Kingdom , and dinosaurs have reintegrated into our ecosystem. Unfortunately, InGen's corporate rivals, BioSyn Genetics, have been experimenting with new species of dinosaurs, as well as a form of locusts from the Cretaceous Period. Meanwhile, BioSyn is also after the genetic information hidden in the DNA of Maisie Lockwood, who has been under the care of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing since the events of Fallen Kingdom.  Now, along with Alan Grant, Ellie Satler, and Ian Mal...

The Expansion of "Star Wars:" Where It's Going

Hey guys, Chuck here. It's been a few days, but I'm back once again. The reason I took some time away after the conclusion of Marvel May was due to, first of all, my busy work schedule, and second of all, an out-of-state trip I took to attend my sister's wedding. To that, I say congrats to my sister, Melissa, and her new husband, Devin. Now, with all that out of the way, let's discuss the ever-growing expanded universe of Star Wars .              Now, I should mention that, prior to the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney, another Star Wars  Expanded Universe existed that consisted of various books, comics, and video games. Unfortunately, the canonicity of the Expanded Universe titles, including the highly renowned novel trilogy Heir to the Empire  as well as the beloved Knights of the Old Republic  video game, were being poorly kept track of. George Lucas primarily focus...

Marvel May - Moon Knight (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've reached the end of yet another Marvel May , and to finish the month out, I'd like to talk about the most recent Marvel series streaming on Disney+: Moon Knight .           So, the series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder. In fact, when we're introduced to him, we actually meet one of his two alternate personalities: Steven Grant. Steven is a bit more mild mannered and isn't into violence at all. Now, when the two personas meet, Marc reveals to Steven that he is the avatar of the Egyptian moon God Khonshu, and with it has a suit of power that he can summon at will. As Marc, the suit is referred to as Moon Knight, and as Steven, it's a suit design referred to as Mr. Knight.           So, we also learn that Marc's wife, Layla, is aware of the Moon Knight suit, but wasn't aware of Marc's DID until she meets Steven. ...

Review - Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've waited the last couple of years to see this movie on the big screen, and it was well worth the wait. Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun , and stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Ed Harris, and a very brief appearance by Val Kilmer. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski, whose work I am familiar with as I have seen both Tron: Legacy and Oblivion , two of his previous directorial efforts.          So, the movie focuses, once again, on U.S. Navy Captain Pete Mitchell aka "Maverick," who has been recalled to Top Gun to help train a group of recalled Top Gun graduates to complete a near-impossible mission to covertly destroy a weapons depot containing massive amounts of uranium. Among the aviators Maverick is training is Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, son of Maverick's late RIO and best friend Goose. Along the way, Maverick reunite...

Marvel May - Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Hey guys, Chuck here. For this Marvel May review, we'll be taking a quick look at the 2007 film Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, directed once again by Tim Story, and once again starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Kerry Washington, and Julian McMahon, who are joined this time by Andre Braugher, Doug Jones, and Beau Garrett, with Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer.        Okay, so while the world is getting ready for the upcoming wedding of Reed Richards and Susan Storm, an unknown cosmic anomaly is causing meteorological havoc across the globe, and also leaving massive holes around the world. General Hager of the U.S. military seeks Reed's assistance in tracking and identifying the anomaly, which later arrives in New York on the day of the big wedding, ruins the big day, and forces Sue's brother Johnny to go after it, and upon getting a close look sees what looks like a silver man on...

Marvel May - Fantastic 4 (2005)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's about time to discuss Marvel's first family during Marvel May , as we take a look at the 2005 film Fantastic 4 starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Kerry Washington, and Julian McMahon.            So, we start of with Reed Richards and Ben Grimm going to a meeting with Victor Von Doom, where Reed presents his theory that exposure to a high-energy cosmic storm led to early development of life on Earth, and a similar cloud will pass by Earth's orbit in a matter of days. Reed's former girlfriend, and currently Victor's head of genetic research, Susan Storm walks in, and Victor and Reed agree on a deal for the mission, which will take place aboard Victor's space station. In the elevator, Reed requests Ben to pilot the mission into space, but Sue reveals that another pilot has been selected in her younger brother, Johnny.           Ben...
