Review - Superman: The Animated Series (1996-2000)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I recently picked up a popular DC Comics animated series from my childhood: Superman: The Animated Series . And now that I've watched through every episode of this series, I thought I'd give my thoughts on it.            So, Superman: The Animated Series , which aired as part of the Kid's WB block from 1996 to 2000, was produced by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, who had previous success earlier in the '90s with Batman: The Animated Series , which aired on Fox Kids. The series opens with the three-parter "The Last Son of Krypton," which establishes the origins of Superman from his infancy on Krypton, his childhood and teen years in Smallville, and his eventual life in Metropolis as both Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent and as the costumed hero Superman. One really interesting detail that was exclusive to this series it that the artificial intelligence Brainiac was given a Kryptonian origin as well, and it sh...

Review - Batman & Robin (1997)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we're just a couple of months away from the release of Matt Reeves' upcoming film The Batman , and I have one more Batman film that I have to discuss. However, this movie is so heinously bad, that I needed to be in a mindset to just go full-on fanboy rage fest all over the film. And I am most definitely in that mindset as I write this review. So, brace yourselves dear readers, as we delve into the 1997 Joel Schumacher film Batman & Robin . While Chris O'Donnell returned as Dick Grayson/Robin, George Clooney takes over as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and is easily the worst actor to have portrayed Batman.           So, this movie has three villains in it. The first villain we meet is Mr. Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is ripping off the largest diamonds in Gotham in order to build a freezing engine. We actually learn that Freeze has a tragic past, as he was once renowned scientist Dr. Vic...

Review - Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! (2017)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I've rested up, and so it's time to get back into reviewing movies. And today, I'm diving back into a world that's as near and dear to my heart today as it was twenty years ago: Pokémon. More specifically, I'm taking a look at the 2017 film Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! . Released in 2017, this marked the first Pokémon movie since 2001's Pokémon 3: Spell of the Unown  to get a theatrical release in the United States, courtesy of NCM Fathom Events. So, as a long time fan, what did I think of this one? Let's dig into this movie and find out.           So, the movie starts off, just as the Indigo League season of the anime did, with Ash Ketchum getting ready to be given his first Pokémon partner by Professor Oak. Unfortunately, because he slept in, he arrives late, and all three starters of Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur have been taken. So, Professor Oak offers another Pokémon: a very stubbo...

Turning Red : the newest film from Pixar focuses on middle schooler Mei, as she has to deal with turning into a giant red panda every time she gets excited or stressed out. Ranking the Marvel Cinematic Universe Releases of 2021

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's the end of the year, and I've already done my countdown of my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2021 . Today, I'd like to do something extra special. I would like to do a ranking of all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe projects released in the year 2021. Now, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all of Marvel's releases this year, including the movies and the Disney+ streaming shows. This is just how I personally rank them compared to each other in terms of my personal enjoyment. So, here we go.          9. Eternals : Now, I will admit that I enjoyed it a bit more upon a second viewing compared to my initial viewing, but it's still not among the best that Marvel had to offer this year. I think that they but off a bit more than they could chew with this one, but I will give them credit for including the first deaf superhero in a feature film.         8. What If...? : Thi...

Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2021

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas weekend. I know I did. Well, we've reached the end of 2021, and it's really great that we got to go back to the movie theaters once again, in spite of the ongoing issues related to COVID-19. Anyway, I would like to run down the list of my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2021 .          First, let's get a few honorable mentions out of the way: Eternals, a Marvel movie with a lot of promise and potential, but not quite a game changer. Mortal Kombat, a fun, more faithful adaptation of the iconic fighting game franchise. F9, as fun as it was, it's the first sign of the fan-favorite franchise running out of steam. Jungle Cruise, Disney's popular ride is turned into a movie that's half Pirates of the Caribbean  and half The Mummy. Halloween Kills, not as good as the 2018 film, but still a fun entry in the legendary horror series. No Time to Die, Daniel Craig's final outing as J...

12 Reviews of Christmas - The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's Christmas Eve, which means we're at the end of 12 Reviews of Christmas . And, of course, that means we'll be taking a look at yet another adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol . And this year, we'll be looking at the version loved by most every 90's kid: 1992's The Muppet Christmas Carol .            Now, of course the story of this movie is exactly the same as every other version of A Christmas Carol . So, in lieu of summarizing the plot, as we've done that already, let's talk about certain details that make this version stand out. Mostly the fact that many of the supporting cast are Muppets. With Kermit the Frog as Bob Crachit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, Miss Piggy as Mrs. Crachit, and Gonzo providing narration as Charles Dickens. We also have Sam the Eagle as the Headmaster of Scrooge's childhood school, and Statler and Waldorf as brothers Jacob and Robert Marley. But what i...
