Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2022

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's officially a new year, which means tons of new movies both in theaters and on streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+. So, I'm here to count down the movies I'm most looking forward to for the year. This is my Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2022

Before we get to the ten, let's start with a few honorable mentions. Morbius: Jared Leto stars as Morbius the Living Vampire in this Marvel Comics adaptation by Sony Pictures. Turning Red: the newest film from Pixar focuses on middle schooler Mei, as she has to deal with turning into a giant red panda every time she gets excited or stressed out. Top Gun: Maverick: Tom Cruise returns as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in this highly anticipated sequel to the 1980's classic Top Gun. Mission: Impossible 7: speaking of Tom Cruise, he's also returning as top IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the seventh entry of the action spy franchise. Mario: Illumination Entertainment brings us a feature film adaptation of Nintendo's iconic character, with a voice cast that includes Chris Pratt and Jack Black. Creed III: Michael B. Jordan is set to make his directorial debut in this third chapter of the Rocky spin-off series about Adonis Creed, boxer and son of the legendary Apollo Creed. Halloween Ends: picking up from the ending of Halloween Kills, this third chapter will hopefully see the final defeat of the notorious Michael Myers.

Okay, now on to the Top 10.

          10. Lightyear: Pixar is set to take audiences to infinity and beyond with this backstory into the in-universe astronaut that inspired the Buzz Lightyear toys from the iconic Toy Story franchise.

          9. Death on the Nile: this one has been delayed a few times due to COVID-19, but Kenneth Branagh's second outing as Hercule Poirot is finally coming, and includes the likes of Russell Brand, Annette Bening, and Gal Gadot.

          8. Jurassic World: Dominion: director Colin Trevorrow returns, as we see what happens when humans and dinosaurs have to co-exist. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return alongside original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

          7. Uncharted: well, this has been a film adaptation of a popular video game that has been in the works for a while. Tom Holland stars as Nathan Drake, in his younger years, as he teams up with Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg, to find a mythical lost treasure.

          6. The DC Extended Universe Films: well, I just couldn't pick between them, so I included all three in one spot. This year, Warner Bros. and DC Films are bringing us Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. I am very excited to see a second Aquaman movie with Jason Momoa, I'm glad that Ezra Miller is finally set to star in a solo movie for The Flash, and Dwayne Johnson finally starring in a superhero movie with Black Adam? Sign me up.  Now, while I included all three on this list collectively, any one of them could make the Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2022 individually.

          5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: hard to believe that one of my favorite films of 2020, if not my absolute favorite film of 2020, was Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, we're getting a sequel which will see Sonic team up with a new friend, Tails, to stop Dr. Robotnik and his new ally, Knuckles the Echidna, from getting the Master Emerald, which is one of the Chaos Emeralds. Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey return, and are joined by newcomers Colleen O'Shaughnessy and Idris Elba.

        4. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore: the newest chapter of the Wizarding World will see Newt Scamander and co. work to try and bring down the notorious dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, played in this movie by the incomparable Mads Mikkelsen. Eddie Redmayne, Dan Fogler, and Jude Law are all set to return, and I couldn't be more excited.

         3. The Marvel Cinematic Universe Films: same rules apply to Marvel on this list as they did with DC. The reason? I honestly don't think I can put any of these three movies above the others in terms of which one I'm most excited for. First off, we have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will continue off from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and will feature Elizabeth Olsen returning as Wanda Maximoff, still coming to terms with the events of WandaVision. On top of that, we have Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Natalie Portman return as Jane Foster, and she will take on the mantle of the Mighty Thor just as she did in the comics. Finally, we have Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where we'll see... well, I don't know what we'll be seeing with this movie, but I know it's going to be good. Top this off will all the Disney+ stuff, and it looks like 2022 is going to be another awesome year for Marvel fans.

         2. Avatar: The Way of Water: too little too late? I don't think so! James Cameron is back with this hotly anticipated return to the world of Pandora, and we'll be exploring the vast oceans of Pandora this time. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana return, and are joined by newcomers like Cliff Curtis, Kate Winslet, and Vin Diesel.

       1. The Batman: if you thought I enjoyed Spider-Man: No Way Home quite a bit last year, you ain't seen nothing yet, as we're getting a new film starring my all-time favorite superhero: Batman. Robert Pattinson is set to star, and will be joined by Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Add to that a kickass looking Batmobile, and this new Batman film from the director of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield is definitely not one to miss.

Well, there we are. My Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2022. Definitely excited for everything we're getting this year. And definitely keep an eye out throughout the year, as I definitely plan to see and review every movie on this list, and maybe a few that didn't make the list. Anything's possible.

This is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys next time.
