Breakdown - Marvel's Avengers Doomsday Cast Announcement

Hey guys, Chuck here. Yesterday, Marvel Studios revealed the lead cast of their upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday , which is set to be directed by the Russo Brothers, and is already set to star Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom. As for the rest of the cast? Let's get into it.         So, returning Avengers are as follows: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. Additionally, we have two heroes of Wakanda joining the team with Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther and Winston Duke as M'Baku. Danny Ramirez will also be returning as Falcon, as will Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi.          Other superhero teams set to appear include both the Fantastic Four, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bacharach all set to return in their respective roles from The Fantastic Four: First Steps...

Review - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)

Hey guys, Chuck here. One of the all-time great science fiction stories is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Originating as a BBC Radio series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was later adapted into novel form, and a BBC Television series. So, it's no surprise that, in 2005, a cinematic adaptation of the classic story would also be made. This film was directed by Garth Jennings, and started Sam Rockwell, Martin Freeman, Zooey Deschanel, Mos Def, Anna Chancellor, Bill Nighy, Warwick Davis, and John Malkovich, with Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin the Robot, and narration by Stephen Fry.        The movie opens with the narrator expositing about how humans are the third most intelligent beings on Earth, dolphins are the second most intelligent beings, and also somehow knew of the impending destruction of Earth. Attempts to warn of the danger were misinterpreted, so the dolphins opted to leave the Earth on their ow...

Review - Snow White (2025)

Well, here we are. Snow White , the latest film from Disney to reimagine one of their animated classics, was directed by Marc Webb, written by Erin Cressida Wilson, and stars Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, and Ansu Kabia, with motion capture performances by Martin Klebba, Jeremy Swift, George Salazar, and Titus Burgess just to name a few.        So, the movie tells the story of Snow White, a princess who goes on the run when, after consulting with the Spirit of the Magic Mirror, the Evil Queen grows jealous of her innermost radiance and wants her dead. Snow White meets and befriends several woodland critters, as well as the Seven Dwarfs (Doc, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, Dopey, and Grumpy), and a young man named Jonathan, who leads a group of bandits, and she works with them to save her kingdom from the rule of the Evil Queen.        Okay, so the myriad of controversies surrounding this movie are well docume...

Review - South Park: Imaginationland (2007)

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, just for kicks, let's head on back to that messed up little town in the Colorado mountains known as South Park. This is my review of the Season Eleven South Park  three-parter Imaginationland , which was also released as a direct-to-video movie.         Part One opens with Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and the other boys like Clyde, Craig, Jimmy, Token, and Butters all searching through the forest to find a leprechaun. Why? Well, Cartman claimed to have seen a leprechaun, and Kyle didn't believe him. So, they made a bet: if there was no leprechaun, Cartman owes Kyle ten bucks, but if there was a leprechaun, Kyle had to...suck Cartman's balls. While at first they don't find anything, the leprechaun Cartman evidently spotted before does show up, and gets caught in one of the boys' traps. Cartman demands the leprechaun's gold, but the leprechaun escapes, and reveals that he was sent to warn of an impen...

Review - Death Race 2 (2010)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, with a second season of Twisted Metal around the corner, I thought it would be fun to dive back into another notable vehicular combat franchise: Death Race . 2008's Death Race,  released by Universal Pictures, owed a lot of its visual design to Twisted Metal more than the Roger Corman classic Death Race 2000 . Unfortunately, Death Race underperformed at the 2008 box office, so Universal opted to go the direct-to-video route for the next film in the series, which would be a prequel film exploring the backstory of the event known as the Death Race.         So, Death Race 2 establishes what we already knew from the 2008 film. In the near future, the U.S. economy collapses, and the criminal justice system reaches a breaking point, leading to federal penitentiaries being run for profit by private corporations, with the Weyland Corporation running the penitentiary known as Terminal Island. And, we open on Te...

Review - Ocean's 8 (2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's time that we, for the time being, wrap up the Ocean's franchise with 2018's Ocean's 8 , directed by Gary Ross, and starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, and Helena Bonham Carter, along with the likes of Richard Armitage, James Corden, Elliot Gould, and Shaobo Qin.          The movie introduces us to Debbie Ocean, sister to Danny Ocean, who is being released from prison on parole. She sets herself up in New York City, where she visits a mausoleum where Danny is, allegedly, buried. I say allegedly because it's not clear if he's actually dead or not. Anyway, Debbie is approached by Ruben Tishkoff, who tells her that Danny did believe her plan could be pulled off, but Ruben advises her against trying to pull it off.          However, Debbie is very much intent on going ahead with the plan, and recruits six women, so...

Review - Daredevil (2015-2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Back at a time when Marvel Television and Marvel Studios were two relatively separate entities adapting Marvel Comics characters to the screen, Marvel Television cut a deal with Netflix to adapt a number of Marvel Comics characters into live-action streaming shows. Those characters were as follows: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, all of whom would eventually team up as a team known as the Defenders.         Of course, the first of the Marvel/Netflix streaming shows would be Daredevil , which would run for three seasons between 2015 and 2018. Developed by Drew Goddard, with showrunners including the likes of Steven S. DeKnight, Doug Petrie, Marco Ramirez, and Erik Olsen, Daredevil would star the likes of Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, Elodie Yung, Wilson Bethel, and Vincent D'Onofrio.  ...

My Thoughts on WWE Elimination Chamber (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and it's been exactly one month since we began the road to WrestleMania . But, before the Showcase of Immortals kicks off in Las Vegas, there's one bump in that road in the form of a 26-foot high steel monstrosity known only as the Elimination Chamber. Yep, it's officially time to discuss this year's WWE Elimination Chamber .        So, to break down just what the hell the Elimination Chamber is, it's a massive steel structure, predominantly made of chains, that surrounds the wrestling ring, with elevated floors on each side of the ring, and four plexiglass pods set up at each of the four corners of the ring. The original design was circular, but the Chamber got a more angular redesign in 2016, with padding added to the floors. The Elimination Chamber match works as follows: six wrestlers participate in the match, with two wrestlers starting in the ring, and the other four being housed in the pods. At regularly timed interva...
