Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2024

         Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we've reached the end of the year, which means it's time to count down my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2024. Now, while this past year has been, well, disappointing to say the least, it was still a recovery year coming off of the massive Hollywood Labor Strikes of 2023. So, let's just count our blessings we had such a decent turnout of films for this past year. 

        Before we get to the Top 10, here are a few honorable mentions: Bad Boys: Ride or Die: a fun fourth outing for the action-comedy franchise, with fun performances by Martin Lawrence and Will Smith; Furiosa: George Miller's prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road was filled with action and memorable performances by Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth; Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: the newest Ghostbusters flick had lots of fun new elements mixed in with plenty of member berries; Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire: Godzilla and Kong returned to the big screen in pretty spectacular fashion, with a welcome appearance from Mothra. 

          And, now, here are my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2024: 

#10 - Alien: Romulus: this return to the Alien franchise had tons of member berries, but also some genuinely frightening moments.

#9 - Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: director Tim Burton's long overdue sequel to Beetlejuice was a ton of fun, with great performances by the likes of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Jenna Ortega.

#8 - Megalopolis: Francis Ford Coppola's latest film boasts some dazzling visual storytelling, and a truly impressive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Adam Driver and Giancarlo Esposito.

#7 - Moana 2: what was meant to be a Disney+ streaming series delivered an entertaining follow-up to a beloved Disney animated film, with absolutely stunning animation and water effects. 

#6 - Transformers One: this animated Transformers prequel have a genuinely emotional backstory of the division of two friends who would go on to become Optimus Prime and Megatron.

#5 - Wicked: the first half of the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked was absolutely stunning to look at, and was filled with absolutely fantastic performances by the likes of Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Ariana Grande, becoming a truly gravity defying time at the theater. 

#4 - Deadpool & Wolverine: Marvel Studios' only cinematic outing for 2024 was also the best superhero movie of the year, with hilarious action and awesome cameos from some surprising former Marvel stars.

#3 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3: the third chapter in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series was an absolute blast, with fun action and some really dark moments involving Shadow the Hedgehog, but with some truly great moments involving Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. 

#2 - Twisters: this standalone sequel to the nineties classic Twister was a ton of fun, with a number of phenomenal performances by the likes of Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, as well as dazzling visual effects showcasing some terrifying tornadoes.

#1 - Dune: Part Two: yep, this is my favorite movie of the year. Denis Villeneuve's return to the world of Arrakis was just as phenomenal as the first film from 2021, with returning faces and new faces all being absolutely phenomenal. 

       Well guys, that's a wrap on 2024 for me. I'll see you guys in the New Year with my Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2025.

        Hey guys, Chuck here. Last night, I watched the new movie The Thundermans Return on Nickelodeon, and I have a few thoughts on it. Review - Ocean's Eleven (2001)

       Hey guys, Chuck here. Back in the 1960's, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and the rest of the Rat Pack teamed up and made a movie called Ocean's 11 , which told the story of a military veteran named Danny Ocean, who teams up with his fellow squad members to rob a number of casinos in Las Vegas. It was definitely a product of the time, and is actually a really fun movie. Seeing Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and the Rat Pack on screen together is just genuinely fun.        In 2001, producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh would bring together a fantastic cast to tell a more modern version of the Rat Pack classic, and that's the movie we're talking about today. Review - Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)

         Hey guys, Chuck here. The other day, I took a look at Rian Johnson's murder mystery Knives Out , which was a financial and critical success for Lionsgate Films. However, even though Lionsgate greenlit a sequel, Netflix wound up buying the rights for a two-film deal for sequels to Knives Out . Today, we'll be taking a look at the first of these sequels: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery , written and directed by Rian Johnson, and starring Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, along with a cast of newcomers that includes Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, and Janelle Monáe.          So, this movie involves a tech billionaire named Miles Bron, who has sent puzzle boxes to his circle of friends, including politician Claire Debella, fashion designer Birdie Jay, scientist Lionel Toussaint, and Twitch streamer/men's rights activist Duke Cody.
