Ranking My Favorite New Series of 2024

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, another year has reached its end. And, of course, with that in mind, it's time for me to rank my favorite new television series of 2024. Now, to qualify for this list, a show has to have both debuted and completed its season in 2024. So, as much as I am currently enjoying series like Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and DC Studios' Creature Commandos, neither of those two shows will wrap until January, so it wouldn't be fair to include them on this list. As for the ones that did make it, here we go:

#8 - Avatar: The Last Airbender: Netflix's live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon wasn't perfect, but was a decent start, and certainly a much better adaptation than the 2010 M. Night Shyamalan film The Last Airbender.

#7 - Knuckles: the Paramount+ spin-off to the Sonic the Hedgehog movies was a ton of fun, with more great moments from Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna.

#6 - Terminator Zero: the Netflix anime is, quite honestly, one of the best pieces of Terminator media released since 2009's Terminator Salvation, with phenomenal animation and compelling characters.

#5 - Ted: the Seth MacFarlane series is a hilarious sitcom prequel to the Ted movies, with terrific family moments with the Bennett's and the foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted.

#4 - Suicide Squad Isekai: this anime based in the world of DC Comics gives one of the best iterations of Task Force X I've seen since the television show Arrow.

#3 - Fallout: the Amazon series based on the video game series was a lot of fun. Both Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins were fantastic, and the design of the world was really something fascinating.

#2 - The Penguin: this HBO series was a perfect complimentary piece to Matt Reeves' The Batman, with phenomenal performances across the board, especially from Colin Farrell and Cristin Miloti.

#1 - Hazbin Hotel: the new Amazon animated series from Helluva Boss creator Vivienne Medrano is arguably my favorite series of the year. Fantastic animation, excellent music, phenomenal characters like Alastor, Angel Dust, and so forth. All in all, this was, to me, the best new series of the year, and I look forward to seeing where Vivienne Medrano goes with it in the future.

And, there it is. These were my favorite new series of 2024. Obviously, there were more that I saw that was either a continuation of something that was new in previous years, or I didn't really like. But, that'll do for today. Next time, we get into my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2024
