My Thoughts on the 2024 Kids' Choice Awards

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, this past weekend saw Nickelodeon hold their annual Kids' Choice Awards. A little later in the year than normal, but that's okay. Now, something different this year is that in lieu of a celebrity host, Nickelodeon instead had cartoon characters SpongeBob and Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants handle hosting duties this year. Odd, but okay.

So, of course, there were a ton of winners, with Barbie winning Favorite Movie, and Margot Robbie winning Favorite Movie Actress for Barbie. Timothee Chalamet won Favorite Movie Actor for his turn as Willy Wonka in Wonka, which was nice. Jack Black took home the award for Favorite Villain for his turn as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, while Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse won Favorite Animated Movie. The awards for Favorite Voices in an Animated Movie went to Adam Sandler and Anna Kendrick, respectively, for their roles in Leo and Trolls Band Together. Finally, Good Burger 2 won the award for Fan Favorite Movie.

Now, that's just for movies. As for television, winners would include the following: Percy Jackson and the Olympians won Favorite TV Show (Kids), Walker Scobell won Favorite Male TV Star (Kids) for his performance as Percy Jackson, Olivia Rodrigo from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series won Favorite Female TV Star (Kids), Young Sheldon won Favorite TV Star (Family), Iain Armitage won Favorite Male TV Star (Family) for his performance in Young Sheldon, Miranda Cosgrove won Favorite Female TV Star (Family) for her performance as Carly Shay in iCarly, America's Got Talent won Favorite Reality Show, and SpongeBob SquarePants, once again, won Favorite Cartoon.

Online media was represented as well, with MrBeast, Lexi Rivera, Kai Cenat, and Jordan Matter/Salish Matter all winning. In the world of sports, both Travis Kelce and Simon Biles were big winners, and music winners included Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Reneé Rapp, Bella Poarch, Sabrina Carpenter, the collaboration of Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Aqua, and the winner of Favorite Video Game went to Roblox. Finally, Serena Williams won the Legend Award. Nice.

But, it's not a Kids' Choice Awards without the green Nickelodeon slime. And, there was lots of slime to go around. Among the slimed celebrities included Reneé Rapp, Jack Black, Jelly Roll, Henry Golding, and The Kid Laroi. Oh, and Hannah Stocking got cake in the face. And, the show ends with a massive 25th Birthday celebration for SpongeBob, as yes, SpongeBob SquarePants is now a twenty-five year old cartoon. Man, I'm getting old.

All in all, despite how late in the year it was, the Kids' Choice Awards were a ton of fun to watch, and I am really happy for most of the winners. Well, that's going to do it for me for now. I'll see you guys in the next review on Wednesday.
