Review - Tekken (2009)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, as promised the other day, this is my review of Tekken , the 2009 live-action movie adaptation of the fighting game franchise of the same name. Directed by Dwight H. Little, this movie stars Jon Foo, Kelly Overton, Ian Anthony Dale, Cung Le, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Candice Hillebrand, Luke Goss, Mircea Monroe, Lateef Crowder, Gary Daniels, Tamlyn Tomita, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.        So, the movie establishes that after a series of wars, governments around the world collapsed and corporations took over. Eight companies, collectively referred to as Iron Fist, would divide up the various territories across the globe, with the North American territory falling under the strongest of these companies: Tekken. And, once a year, the eight companies hold a martial arts tournament, also known as Iron Fist, where the winner receives wealth and celebrity status, as well as honor and prestige for the company they represent....

Review - Street Fighter (1994)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, since we've talked about the Mortal Kombat franchise in the past, I think it's a good time to discuss other movies based on popular fighting games. And, a good one to start with is the 1994 movie Street Fighter , written and directed by Steven de Souza, and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen, Damian Chapa, Byron Mann, Kylie Minogue, Grand L. Bush, Peter Tuiasosopo, Jay Tavare, and Wes Studi.         So, the movie tells of how the Allied Nations troops, led by Col. William F. Guile, have seized control of the southeast Asian port city of Shadaloo, but are struggling against the heavily armed forces of deranged warlord General M. Bison, who has abducted a large number of relief workers and three Allied Nations soldiers, and has set a ransom of US $20 billion. Guile, while being asked for a comment by news reporter Chun-Li Zang, speaks directly to Bison himself, who has his subordinate, Dee Jay, ...

Review - Little Shop of Horrors (1986)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Years before they began writing some of the most iconic songs in the history of Disney Animation, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman made a name for themselves on Broadway, specifically with the musical Little Shop of Horrors . And, with spooky season around the corner, I thought it'd be fun to talk about the 1986 movie adaptation of the musical Little Shop of Horrors .        Directed by Frank Oz, this movie stars Rick Moranis as Seymour Krelborn, a down on his luck employee of a flower shop called Mushnik's, which is located in a scummy neighborhood called Skid Row. In addition to Seymour and Mr. Mushnik, the only other one working at the flower shop is Audrey, the clerk whom Seymour has feelings for, but she's in a toxic relationship with a sadistic dentist named Orin Scrivello.        One afternoon, after Mr. Mushnik is fed up with never getting any customers, Seymour and Audrey make a suggestion to draw i...

Review - A Few Good Men (1992)

Hey guys, Chuck here. A Few Good Men is widely considered as one of the greatest courtroom drama films ever made. Written by Aaron Sorkin, and based on his stage play of the same name, this 1992 drama from director Rob Reiner features a thoroughly fantastic cast, which includes Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Kevin Pollak, J.T. Walsh, Kevin Bacon, J.A. Benson, Wolfgang Bodison, James Marshall, Christopher Guest, and Kiefer Sutherland.         The movie opens at the U.S. Military Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where we see two U.S. Marines, Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private Louden Downey enter the barracks, and walk into the room of Private William Santiago. And, what follows appears to be a simple hazing, with Dawson and Downey stuffing a rag in Santiago's mouth, taping his mouth shut and taping his legs and hands together, and giving him a head shave.         Some days later, U.S. Navy JA...

Review - The Godfather Part III (1990)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's time to wrap up our coverage of The Godfather trilogy with Francis Ford Coppola's 1990 film The Godfather Part III , which sees the returns of Al Pacino as Michael, Talia Shire as Connie, and Diane Keaton as Kay. Joining them are newcomers Andy García, Joe Mantegna, George Hamilton, Eli Wallach, Sofia Coppola, Franc D'Ambrosio, John Savage, and Raf Vallone.         Set in the year 1979, the movie sees a much older Michael Corleone, wracked with guilt over his ruthless rise to power, as well as his hand in the death of his brother Fredo. Because of his guilt, Michael, who is nearing sixty years old, now donates millions to charitable causes. We also learn a couple things at the start of the movie: first is that Michael and Connie have moved the Corleone family back to New York, and second is that he and Kay have been divorced for years.        We see Michael being honored with being i...

Review - The Godfather Part II (1974)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Two years after the release of The Godfather , Francis Ford Coppola returned to the Corleone family with 1974's The Godfather Part II , which saw the returns of Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall, John Cazale, Talia Shire, and Morgana King, with new cast members including Robert De Niro, Lee Strasberg, G. D. Spradlin, Michael V. Gazzo, Richard Bright, Bruno Kirby, Frank Sivero, John Aprea, and Giuseppe Solatto.       The movie is split into two separate stories, cutting from one to the other at intermittent points throughout the movie. The first story explores the backstory of Don Vito Corleone, who was born Vito Andolini in the city of Corleone, Sicily. In 1901, Vito's father, Antonio Andolini, paid a disrespect to local Mafia chieftain Don Ciccio, and was killed for it. Vito's older brother, Paolo, swears revenge on the Don, and goes off into the hills, leaving Vito as the only son standing with his mother at Ant...

Review - The Godfather (1972)

Hey guys, Chuck here. How do I do this? How do I get into an all-time classic beloved by many? How do I even begin to delve into a film so complex and full of brilliant storytelling and masterful acting? Well, I guess we'll find out. This is my review of the 1972 Francis Ford Coppola classic The Godfather starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Talia Shire, John Cazale, Diane Keaton, Abe Vigoda, Richard Castellano, Sterling Hayden, Al Lettieri, Victor Rendina, Gianni Russo, and Richard Conte.        The movie opens on the wedding day of Carlo Rizzi and Constanzia "Connie" Corleone. And, in Sicilian tradition, Connie's father, mafia boss Don Vito Corleone, meets with a number of his friends and invited guests who have a request. For instance, an undertaker named Bonasera seeks vengeance for what a group of young men did to his daughter. And, of course, the Corleone family is in attendance, and this includes Vito's wife ...

My Thoughts on WWE Clash in Paris (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, yesterday saw the WWE holding the premium event Clash in Paris . Unfortunately, due to other obligations, I missed watching it live. But, I was able to catch the replay after the fact, and here are my thoughts on the event.         So, kicking things off was a match between Bronson Reed and Roman Reigns, which saw Roman Reigns win the match. And, the best part was when Roman took what is referred to as the "shoe-la fala" and cut it apart. But, the fun was ruined when both Reed and Bron Breakker attacked Roman, forcing Raw  general manager Adam Pearce to ban both men from the building, under penalty of indefinite suspension without pay.          The next match was a WWE Tag Team Championship match between the Wyatt Sicks and the Street Profits, and the Wyatt Sicks emerged victorious and retained the championship belts. And, I will say I enjoyed the Street Profits' Borderlands ins...
