Review - Twisted Metal: Season Two (2025)

Alright guys, we are back with Season Two of Twisted Metal , the Peacock original streaming series from Michael Jonathan Smith, which is based on the PlayStation game franchise created by Scott Campbell and David Jaffe. The series sees the returns of Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Mike Mitchell, Samoa Joe, and Will Arnett, and they are joined this time by Anthony Carrigan, Patty Guggenheim, Richard de Klerk, Tiana Okoye, Saylor Bell Kurda, Lisa Gilroy, and Michael James Shaw.        So, while the first season ended with the hint of a radical new tournament on the horizon, this season sees the Twisted Metal tournament actually take place, and John Doe and Quiet are reunited to compete, alongside the duo of Sweet Tooth and Stu. And, they face some new competition such as Mr. Grimm, Dollface, and Axel, all of whom are vying for the grand prize: a single wish to be granted by the mastermind of the tournament: Calypso.      ...

Review - War of the Worlds (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Remember when Zack Snyder and Netflix teamed up for the two part sci-fi action film Rebel Moon , and how I was one of the few defending Rebel Moon for not being the worst thing in the history of sci-fi? Well, there's no defending this one,. because this IS the absolute WORST thing in the history of sci-fi. Yeah, it's WORSE than Jupiter Ascending, WORSE than After Earth , WORSE than Battlefield Earth , and WORSE than Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever .         Recently farted out onto Amazon Prime, the 2025 version of War of the Worlds  is an unnecessary reminder of the time we were all in lockdown due to the pandemic. The movie, and I say the term VERY LOOSELY, stars Ice Cube as Will Radford, a surveillance analyst for the Department of Homeland Security, who spends the entirety of the story watching events unfold through his computer monitor. And, it's in the midst of Will doing his job that he witnesses an alien in...

Review - Relay (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Relay  is a new thriller from director David Mackenzie, and stars Riz Ahmed, Lily James, Sam Worthington, Willa Fitzgerald, Eisa Davis, and Victor Garber.         The movie, set in New York, focuses on Ash, a man who works as a "fixer," acting as an intermediary between clients and corporations when said clients have potentially damning documentation. And, to maintain his anonymity and protect his clients, Ash utilities the Tri-State Relay Service, and communicates using a device for the deaf and hard of hearing that connects to a phone. His newest client, Sarah Grant, a woman with such damning documentation against a major corporation with a breakthrough crop, may prove to be his most dangerous yet, as she is being followed by a group, led by Dawson, who will do anything to recover the documents.         So, this movie made its debut last year at the Toronto International Film Festiv...

Review - Peacemaker: Season One (2022)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, with a week away until the release of the second season of James Gunn's HBO Max series Peacemaker , I thought it was time to finally talk about the first season. And, while the upcoming season is set in the DC Universe, and thus shares a cinematic universe with the movie Superman , the first season is set in the old DC Extended Universe. The series itself stars John Cena, Robert Patrick, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Freddie Stroma, and Danielle Brooks.         Picking up five months after the events of the 2021 James Gunn film The Suicide Squad , Peacemaker  follows the exploits of Christopher Smith, who is discharged from the hospital after the events in the Corto Maltese. However, he is confronted by a team, led by Clemson Murn, and consisting of the trio of John Economos, Emilia Harcourt, and newcomer Leota Adebayo. Murn, ultimately, gives Christopher a choice: either return to Belle...

Breakdown - The Weird World of "Saturday Night Live" Movies

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, it seems like, with a handful of exceptions, it's not been an easy road to adapt popular recurring sketches from Saturday Night Live to mediums outside of the weekly late night sketch comedy series.         Now, the two recurring sketches from Saturday Night Live that DID find success in movie form were, of course, The Blues Brothers , a recurring musical act on Saturday Night Live with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, and also Wayne's World , a sketch about two friends named Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar who host a weekly public access show called, oddly enough, Wayne's World. Both The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World would have two feature films each, with 1980's The Blues Brothers and 1998's Blues Brothers 2000  being films I have talked about in the past. However, I haven't yet discussed either 1992's Wayne's World or its 1993 sequel Wayne's World 2 , but I find both to be pretty funny.    ...

Review - The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and The Karate Kid Part III (1989)

Hey guys, Chuck here. And, yes, it is time. This is my review of the 1986 film The Karate Kid Part II  and the 1989 film The Karate Kid Part III . Both films, which are sequels to the 1984 classic The Karate Kid , Star the returning duo of Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, who are joined in Part II by Tamlyn Tomita, Yuji Okumoto, and Danny Kamekona, with brief appearances by William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence and Martin Kove as John K Reese, while Part III introduces the likes of Thomas Ian Griffith, Sean Kanan, and Robyn Lively, along with the return of Martin Kove as John Kreese.          So, The Karate Kid Part II  picks up at the aftermath of the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament, where Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese is berating Johnny Lawrence for placing second, and roughing the boy up. Mr. Miyagi, seeing this, puts a stop to the incessant violence and teaches Kreese a lesson, and comedica...

Breakdown - The Hateful Eight: Extended Version (2019)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's certainly been a while since we last discussed director Quentin Tarantino's 2015 Western film The Hateful Eight . But, something I find fascinating is that, in 2019, Tarantino released an extended director's cut version of the film in the form of a four-episode miniseries on Netflix. Yep, that's right. There are two versions of The Hateful Eight : the original film release, and the four-episode miniseries extended version. But, before we get started, I would like to dedicate this movie breakdown to the memory of actor Michael Madsen, who sadly passed away on July 3rd, 2025. Madsen, who was a frequent collaborator of Quentin Tarantino, portrayed the character of Joe Gage in The Hateful Eight.        Now, are there any major differences between the original film and the extended version miniseries? Well, there are a few notable differences, which is mostly in terms of dialogue. For example, we get a few added ...

My Thoughts on WWE SummerSlam (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was feeling the heat over the last couple of days, as it was the setting for the biggest party of the summer: WWE SummerSlam . And, for the first time, SummerSlam  was held as a two-night event, with plenty of epic matches spread across the two nights.         So, the first night of SummerSlam kicked off with Jey Uso and Roman Reigns in Tag Team action against Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, which saw Jey and Roman take the victory. YEET! Next up was the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match, which saw Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez of the Judgement Day defend their titles against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, with Alexa and Charlotte emerging victorious as the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. Next up was a one-on-one match between Karrion Kross and Sami Zayn, which saw Sami pick up the win. Nice! Anyway, next up was the WWE Women's Championship match, which saw T...

Review - Freaky Friday (2003)

Hey guys, Chuck here. One of Disney's most recurring film titles is Freaky Friday . Based on the book of the same name, the 1976 original with Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster is widely seen as a Disney classic. Unfortunately, a number of films released afterwards weren't quite as good. However, there was a 2003 film version of Freaky Friday that was, for all intents and purposes, universally well liked. And, with that film getting a sequel this summer, I wanted to give my thoughts on Disney's 2003 version of  Freaky Friday,  directed by Mark Waters and starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Harold Gould, Christina Vidal, Haley Hudson, Ryan Malgarini, and Stephen Tobolowsky.          So, this movie introduces us to Tess Coleman, a hard working psychiatrist who is juggling her career with raising her two kids: teenage daughter Anna, and young son Harry. As for Anna, she struggles with most ...
