Review - That '90s Show: Part Two (2024)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, it's another summer at Point Place, Wisconsin for Leia Forman and her friends in That '90s Show: Part Two, the first batch of new episodes of the Netflix sitcom That '90s Show. Everyone is back from the first season, including Kurtwood Smith, Deborah Jo Rupp, Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Reyn Doi, Sam Morelos, and Maxwell Acee Donovan.

So, it's the summer of 1996, and Leia is back in Point Place for the summer. But, things are complicated when Nikki and Jay find out that Leia and Nate almost hooked up the previous summer. But, while Jay and Leia work things out and get back together, Nikki and Nate end up splitting up and getting back together later. Yeesh. Meanwhile, Red and Kitty's neighbor across the street passes away, and the house is for sale. While Kitty pushes Donna into talking Eric into buying the house, thus having Eric, Donna, and Leia in Point Place permanently, Donna has her dad, Bob, buy the place instead. So, Bob is back in Point Place, amd lives across the street from the Forman house.

Of course, there's plenty of nods and references to '90s pop culture throughout. For instance, we hear the hit song "Macarena" in the very first episode, we see Gwen and Leia working at Hot Topic, Ozzie winds up winning Spice Girls tickets in a radio call-in contest, cameos by '90s icons like Carmen Electra, Wayne Knight, and Lisa Loeb, and so on. Oh, and we get a cameo by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, with the latter playing the son of Leo, played by Tommy Chong. I also liked how Mitch, played by a returning Seth Green, was in charge of the Hot Topic, and is in a feud with the guys working at Abercrombie & Fitch.

All of the returning players are on point. Both Kurtwood Smith and Deborah Jo Rupp were perfect as Red and Kitty, while Callie Haverda is really coming into her own as Leia. Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen, Mace Coronel as Jay, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate are all fantastic, and we get a lot more development with the likes of Gwen, Nate, Nikki, and Jay.

Overall, I enjoyed this batch of episodes, and had a lot of fun with them. Now, something to note is that Part Two ends on a cliffhanger, with the resolution coming when the next eight episodes, packages as Part Three releases in October. But, until then, log into Netflix and check out the latest episodes of That '90s Show.

Alright guys, this is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys in my review of Justice League X RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen.
