My Thoughts on WrestleMania XL

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, this past weekend, WWE held the fortieth annual WrestleMania event in Philadelphia. Over the course of Saturday and Sunday evening, their was a lot of incredible wrestling, and there's definitely a lot to break down.

Starting with Night One, we had the WWE Women's World Championship match between Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley, who would ultimately retain the title. I will say, though, that both ladies put up one hell of a match, and I gotta give Becky props for wrestling in spite of a massive fever and strep throat. That's a trooper, yo. Next was a Six-Pack Ladder match for the WWE Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Belts. The Raw titles would be won by The Miz and R-Truth (The Awesome Truth, while the SmackDown titles went to Austin Theory and Grayson Waller (A-Town From Down Under). This took both sets of belts from The Judgement Day, and split the belts apart as they should be. And, honestly, after that the matchers were kind of just meh.

The next match saw Andrade and Rey Mysterio defeat Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio in tag team action. It was okay, but so worth it for Rey to knock some sense into his son Dominik. Next, it was brother versus brother as Jey Uso defeated his brother Jimmy Uso. That was cool. We then saw a six woman tag team match, where Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill defeating Damage CTRL, which was pretty awesome. Next match was the Intercontinental Title match between Sami Zayn and Gunther. It sucked, moving on. I kid, I kid. But, I'm glad that the "Ring General" ended up losing the match.

The main event of Night One saw Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in tag team action against Roman Reigns and The Rock. The stakes were pretty high, as if Cody and Seth lost, then the title match that Cody would have against Roman would be contested under Bloodline Rules. However, of Cody and Seth won, the Bloodline would be barred from ringside. Naturally, Rock and Roman won, thus guaranteeing Bloodline rules for the title match on Night Two. Overall, Night One was mixed for.me, with four really good matches overall.

Night Two, however, was a lot more fun for me. It all started off with Seth Rollins defending his WWE Heavyweight Title again Drew McIntyre. And remember, Seth was still hurting from his Night One match. It almost seemed unfair, but McIntyre won the title. And, after taunting guest commentator CM Punk, Punk nailed McIntyre, and Damian Priest of Judgement Day would cash in his Money in the Bank and take the title from McIntyre. Nice. Next up, we saw Bobby Ashley and the Street Profits win a Philadelphia Street Fight against the Final Testament, with special guest referee Bubby Ray Dudley. I loved this match, as it felt like a fun throwback to Hardcore Wrestling, which was so much fun.

Unfortunately, two matches I didn't like the results of were a one-on-one match between AJ Styles and LA Knight, where LA Knight won, and a triple-threat U.S. Title Match between Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton, where Logan retained his title. Ick. But, the Women's Championship match between Bayley and Iyo Sky more than made up for it, with Bayley being crowned the new champion. Sweet.

And now, the main event: Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, contested under Bloodline Rules. Anything goes. The match was intense, and saw tables, chairs, kendo sticks, and so forth being used. Saw Roman and Cody beat the crap out of each other both inside and outside the ring. Bloodline members like Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, and The Rock all showed up to assist Roman, and Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, and John Cena came to the defense of Rhodes. But, it was the appearance of The Undertaker, THE all-time professional wrestling legend, and choke slammed The Rock, that it was all over. Cody hit Roman with three back-to-back Cross-Rhodes maneuvers, got the pinfall, and won the match. And, he absolutely deserved it. He completed his journey, and it's a brand new era.

Overall, both nights of WrestleMania XL were fantastic. I had a lot of fun with it. There was a lot of surprises, a few disappointments, and plenty of kickass wrestling matches. For the first WrestleMania with him as the boss, I gotta give full marks to Paul "Triple H" Levesque for all the hard work he and the WWE put into this event. I enjoyed it, and I am glad I got to watch it.

Alright guys, this is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys later.
