Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2022

Hey guys, Chuck here, and it's been quite the year, hasn't it? We've had a lot of great memories, and we got to see a lot of great movies throughout the year. So, today, I'm counting down my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2022. Now, this list is based solely on my personal opinion, and doesn't reflect how others will feel regarding the movies of this year.

Now, before the Top 10, here are some Honorable Mentions: Jurassic World: Dominion - while it was great to see the trio from the original Jurassic Park, unfortunately it was too unfocused, leaving it only worth an honorable mention; Uncharted - a neat treasure hunt movie that definitely is shifting views on video game adaptations; Jackass Forever - a fun romp with some new faces joining our favorite insane band of bad boys doing off the wall stunts; Clerks III - Kevin Smith returns to the View Askewniverse with an emotional final chapter for Dante and Randal; Death on the Nile - an enjoyable sequel to Murder on the Orient Express with an engaging murder mystery; Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - Sam Raimi's first Marvel Movie in fifteen years is full of surprise cameos and a neat concept, but falls short of the potential of its premise; Hocus Pocus 2 - great nostalgic return to Salem with the Sanderson Sisters with really neat new protagonists.

Okay, with those out of the way, here's are my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2022

      10. Disenchanted - a great return to the familiar world of Disney's Enchanted, with great new musical numbers and a great new villain portrayed by Maya Rudolph. Loved the returns of Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel, as well as newcomer Gabriella Baldacchino.

       9. Black Adam - Dwayne Johnson stars in a fantastic DC movie with a lot of action and thrills, but easily my favorite part of the movie was the Justice Society, especially with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate.

       8. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - a great follow up to 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog that brings in more of what Sonic fans want to see in this franchise, including characters like Tails and Knuckles. Another brilliant performance by Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.

       7. Bullet Train - one of the biggest surprises of the year, to be sure, director David Leitch's adaptation of the Japanese light novel has great acting, edge of your seat action, and hilarious banter between Brad Pitt and the rest of the cast.

      6. One Piece Film: Red - easily my favorite animated film of 2022, I loved this big screen adventure with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates,.as well as seeing Luffy's mentor Red Haired Shanks make an appearance in the movie's climax.

      5. Prey - director Dan Trachtenberg delivers a great outing in the storied Predator franchise with an incredible leading performance by Amber Midthunder.

      4. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - definitely one of the better Marvel movies of the year, this action-filled emotional rollercoaster showcased just how far we've come in terms of superhero cinema, as well as serving as a touching tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

      3. The Batman - definitely my favorite comic book movie of the year, this piece of superhero cinema is a work of art from a true cinematic genius: Matt Reeves. Robert Pattinson is terrific in the title role, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this movie. I mean, it's frickin Batman, guys. It's. Batman.

      2. Top Gun: Maverick - the breakout smash hit of the summer, I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional powerhouse that came with Tom Cruise's long awaited second outing as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, and every minute was just fantastic aerial stunts and thrilling dogfights.

      1. Avatar: The Way of Water - never bet against James Cameron, because he'll surprise you. This long awaited sequel to the 2009 film Avatar is already raking in box office gold, and is a cinematic spectacle of stellar visual effects and incredible new creature designs that make this second visit to the world of Pandora absolutely worth it, and worthy of being my favorite movie of the year.

And there you have it, guys, my Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2022. Now, tomorrow will be my Ranking the Marvel Studios Releases of 2022 list, so be sure to watch out for that. And don't forget to join me on January 3rd for my Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2023. This is Chuck signing off, and I'll see you guys next time.
