Will Smith Month - Bad Boys (1995)

Hey guys, Chuck here, and welcome to Will Smith Month. All month long, I'll be looking at the films of the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith. Now, obviously, there will be exceptions, as I've already done reviews of Independence Day and Suicide Squad, so don't expect me to re-review either of them. You can read my reviews of both to see my opinions on them. Now, with that out of the way, let's kick off Will Smith Month with Bad Boys

Released in 1995, this film stars Will Smith as Miami Police detective Mike Lowrey, whose partner is Marcus Burnett, played by Martin Lawrence. So, Marcus and Mike are tasked with locating $100 million worth of seized Mafia heroin, before their division in the police department, narcotics, is ultimately shut down. So, Mike and Marcus scramble to retrieve the stolen drugs, using Mike's ex-girlfriend and current informant to do so. But, will their unorthodox methods work to retrieve the stolen drugs before the entire narcotics division is shut down? You're just going to have to watch the movie yourself to find out.

Okay, so not only is Will Smith great in this movie, but Martin Lawrence is as well. I definitely buy not only that they're partners in the police force, but friends as well. I also enjoyed the performances by the likes of Joe Pantoliano, Tea Leoni, Theresa Randle, Karen Alexander, and the rest of the cast of this movie. The performances of the actors in this movie really make the characters feel real.

The action in this movie is truly sharp, and the writing is top notch. The use of over-the-top banter and clever dialogue is just gut-bustingly hilarious, and I just love it. Overall, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay made an excellent film here. I give Bad Boys a rating of 5/5.

This is Chuck signing off. Join me this Friday as we head to the old West as Will Smith Month continues with Wild Wild West.
