Review - Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we're back talking about Scooby-Doo, and this time it's the 2004 film Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed . This film was, once again, directed by Raja Gosnell, written by James Gunn, and sees the returns of Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, and Matthew Lillard. Joining them in this movie are Seth Green, Peter Boyle, Tim Blake Nelson, and Alicia Silverstone, with special appearances by Pat O'Brien, Big Brovaz, and Ruben Studdard.        The movie opens in Coolsville at the red carpet grand opening of the Coolsonian Criminology Museum, run by Patrick Wisely, and Mystery Inc. is, of course, in attendance. The museum is dedicated to the many exploits of Mystery Inc., and thus has many of the monster costumes from criminals they unmasked the past. And, the costumes all come the many Scooby-Doo cartoons throughout the years, and include the following: the Black Knight Ghost, Captain Cutler's Gh...

Review - Ice Princess (2005)

Hey guys, Chuck here. In memory of actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who tragically passed away at the age of 39, this is my review of the 2005 teen sports movie Ice Princess.          The movie focuses on Casey Carlyle, a brilliant teenager who is knowledgeable in physics, but also has a passion for ice skating. Combining her two passions, Casey decides to make a summer project that will go towards her scholarship to Harvard focus on the applications of physics and mathematical angles to figure skating.         However, as she gets more personally involved in the world of figure skating, her priorities begin to shift. Casey winds up growing close to several others including Gennifer "Gen" Harwood and her brother Teddy, as well as Gen's fellow skaters Tiffany and Nikki. Gen and Teddy's mother, Tina, winds up coaching Casey to compete in figure skating competitions, but tension soon grows between Tina and Casey's ...

Review - Spider-Man (2018)

Hey guys, Chuck here. When it comes to superhero video games, I have, of course, talked in length about Batman with the Batman: Arkham series. But, there's been a recent lineup of video games centered around Marvel's flagship superhero: Spider-Man. Now, there have been plenty of Spider-Man games over the years produced by Activision, although many of them are crappy movie tie-in games related to the Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire or The Amazing Spider-Man movies with Andrew Garfield. But in 2018, we finally got a proper Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games, the same studio behind the likes of Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and the Overdrive series. So, here it is: my review of the 2018 PlayStation 4 game simply called Spider-Man .         So, the game opens with Peter Parker/Spider-Man taking off from his New York City apartment to aid the New York Police, led by Captain Yuri Watanabe, on their attempt to apprehend and ar...

Review - The Mandalorian: Season Three (2023)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Well, we're talking about some Star Wars again, and in this case we're wrapping up the Disney+ series The Mandalorian with its third and final season.           Airing on Disney+ in 2023, the third season of The Mandalorian sees Din Djarin, along with his ward Grogu, go on a journey for Din's redemption by way of the Mandalorian Creed. To do this, Din must bathe in the Living Waters on the planet Mandalore. Unfortunately, Din runs into some trouble, so Grogu is sent to get help from Bo-Katan Kryze, who not only rescues him, but also defeats those who captured him and is able to reclaim the Darksaber. Din and Bo-Katan track the Living Waters, and Din goes into the water, falls deep, and Bo-Katan saves him, and the two leave Mandalore, returning to Din's covert.          On the planet where the covert has made their temporary home, the Armorer confirms that what Din brought, was,...

Review - Captain America: Brave New World (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Captain America: Brave New World is Marvel Studios' latest cinematic offering, and comes to us from director Julius Onah, who also directed 2018's The Cloverfield Paradox . This movie stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson.         The movie focuses on Sam Wilson/Captain America, who has to work with newly elected President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross to deal with a massive international incident that centers around the newly discovered metal Adamantium, which comes from the dead remains of the Celestial Tiamut, all the while dealing with such foes at the Serpent Society, led by Sidewinder, and the newly resurfaced Samuel Sterns, whose previous exposure to the gamma radiation in Bruce Banner's blood has transformed him into the gamma powered maniac The Leader.         Okay, so there's a lot to unpack...

Review - The Flintstones (1994)

Hey guys, Chuck here. After taking a look at the 2002 film Scooby-Doo,  it only made sense to dive into another live-action adaptation of a classic Hannah-Barbera cartoon. So, this is my review of the 1994 film The Flintstones , released by Universal Pictures, directed by Brian Levant, and starring John Goodman, Elizabeth Perkins, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell, Kyle MacLachlan, Halle Berry, Jonathan Winters, Richard Moll, and Elizabeth Taylor.         The movie opens at the offices of Slate and Co. in Bedrock, where Cliff Vandercave is plotting a money embezzling scheme, where Cliff and his assistant Ms. Sharon Stone (no, seriously, that's actually the character's name) will live large on Mr. Slate's money on the beaches of Rocapulco, and all they need for the scheme to work is a complete ignoramus from the rock quarry.         After a recreation of the iconic Flintstones intro, we start the movie proper,...

Review - Scooby-Doo (2002)

Hey guys, Chuck here. Scooby-Doo was a really popular Hannah-Barbera cartoon which made its television debut in 1969. It follows four teenage sleuths and their Great Dane as they solve mysteries and unmask bad guys disguised as various monsters. The series was so popular that it received several spin-offs and direct-to-video animated movies throughout the years. So, it's really no surprise that Warner Bros. would want to make a live-action movie based on Scooby-Doo in the early 2000's.          Released in 2002, the live-action Scooby-Doo was directed by Raja Gosnell, written by James Gunn, and starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini, Matthew Lillard, Isla Fisher, Miguel A. Núñez Jr. Sam Greco, Steven Grieves, and Rowan Atkinson, with special appearances by Pamela Anderson and Sugar Ray.        The movie opens with Mystery Inc. wrapping up the caper of the Luna Ghost, who had been hauntin...

My Thoughts on WWE Royal Rumble (2025)

Hey guys, Chuck here. One thing I want to do a lot more of this year is share my thoughts on a few of the WWE premium live events. And, yes, this will include the forthcoming WrestleMania . But, before we get to the Showcase of Immortals, we have the annual Royal Rumble . So, here are my thoughts on the 2025 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble .        So, the way the Royal Rumble match works is as such: thirty WWE Superstars will enter the match, starting with two Superstars at the beginning, and subsequent Superstars enter at intervals of two minutes. The way for a Superstar to eliminate an opponent is to throw them over the top rope. But, both feet must hit the floor for the elimination to count. The last WWE Superstar standing wins the match, and is guaranteed a main event spot at WrestleMania , with a title shot for one of two WWE Titles: the World Heavyweight Title or the Undisputed WWE Title for the Men's Royal Rumble , and the Women's World ...
